Rothfuss XIII: Fan Angst Live Stream

Why am I not surprised he's a huge Rick and Morty fan? I bet he even believes the copypasta going around last fall is true.

Because to be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Rick’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they’re not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick’s existential catchphrase “Wubba Lubba Dub Dub,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon’s genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them.

And yes, by the way, i DO have a Rick & Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 8)

I'm afraid to ask, but I will: what copypasta do you refer too?

And as a Rck and Morty fan, I'm both embarrassed and ashamed of most of my other fellow Rick and Morty fans.

Do you old people know what copypastas are :ooooooooooo

The "to be fair" comment is the pasta.  I don't know if it was ever written as a serious comment or whether it was written as a satire from the get-go, but it's been posted to death on Reddit whenever Rick and Morty is brought up because of the insufferable fans.

Yeah.  I wonder if it will ever be published?

I suspect it will once other opportunities start drying up. For now, he has too many fun non-anxiety inducing opportunities staring him in the face to even consider doing something that makes him miserable.

Hey @baxus

Do you have a copy of Name of the Wind in Serbian? There's a guy who's doing a comparison of the Lackless Rhyme (Seven things has Lady Lackless...) in various languages to tease out meaning and I thought I'd (really my wife, who is Serbian) contribute with some analysis of a language they haven't done.

If you have it, could you post the rhyme?

Thx

Here you go :)

"Sedam stvari gospa Leklis ima
 pod crnom ih haljinom skriva
prsten što se nosit' ne sme
 reč oštru što psovka nije
 tik uz muževljevu sveću
 bez kvake su vrata jedna
u kutiji bez poklopca i bravi
 muževljevo kamenje ona stavi
 tajnu ona jednu krije
 sanja ona al' ne spije
na drumu što za put nije
zagonetku svoju rado bi da odvije."

I've had NotW and TWMF sitting on my shelf for a while now.  What's the general thoughts on reading them?  I went into ASoIaF and The Gentleman Bastards not knowing they would never be completed and I have now come to a general acceptance of that.  Going into Kingkiller knowing that the status is hanging in limbo would be a new experience for me, but I think I'd at least be prepared.

So what's the consensus?  Still worth reading knowing that there is no end in sight?  Or hold off cause there's no rush?
