What part of Dunk's life do you most want to see?

We've had three novellas in the Dunk & Egg series. But there is still so much to cover. We have a general outline of what to expect regarding Dunk's life after the second Blackfyre rebellion, but what singular event of his life do you most want to read about?

For me, personally, it would be the Great Council and ascension of Egg as Aegon V. I want to see the Aenys Blackfyre incident play out, since I consider it one of the least moral actions ever committed in the series, and I want to know what part Dunk played in that event. Maybe he was the one who arrested Bloodraven. Maybe he was the one who advised Egg on what to do about Aenys' murder. He must have been involved somehow!

Interesting question. I'd want to see the Laughing Storm's rebellion. It would allow for some great battles, that big final duel between Dunk and Lyonel, former allies in the first novella, and maybe even some foreshadowing to Robert's Rebellion. Maybe have a character make a prediction about what happens if the dragon angers the stag again. Basically a novella set in the Stormlands would be great. We really don't get enough of that Westerosi region in the series.

Summerhall would be the obvious answer. But Dunk's surely lived very interesting episodes before that.

Besides what has already been said, I'd be very interested in seeing the relationship between Dunk and Rohanne when she was Gerold the Golden's wife, and the reasons behind her disappearance.

After 3 novellas I still don't have a good grasp on just what Egg is all about. So any setting where we get a lot of Egg.

Summerhall would be one of the last settings for Dunk and Egg, correct? If so the next book should not be about Summerhall.

I'd love to see more on the Blackfyre Rebellions, more on what went on during Maekar's reign and I really, really would love to see a discourse between Bittersteel, Glendon Ball and Duncan during the Third Blackfyre Rebellion. its a pot theory of mine that we'll essentially come to see such a thing one day. :)

It  sounds horrible, but I'd really like to see The End, and its run-up: Summerhall. What happened there, why, what did they expect, how Rhaegar was born. How he got away alive, and any remaining survivors.

Also, Duncan's trip (probably w/o King Egg V) to the Wall, escorting Young Maester Aemon and Bryndan Rivers, and what precipated Bloodraven's exile. (In detail.) Duncan (and Egg?)'s trip to Winterfell, particularly if it was at a different time than the Wall journey (more about Young Nan! Romance beneath the weirwood!) Their trip to Dorne. The Ascension of Aegon the Unlikely to the Iron Throne and appointment of Ser Dunc to the King's Guard.

But honestly, what I REALLY want to see is The Winds of Winter and any succeeding volumes FIRST. Call me greedy.

Summerhall. Not question. Something happened there that we don't know, and I suspect that somehow it leads to Tarth and a certain shield.

Dunk at Winterfell, and with Old Nan, and Dunk escorting BR to the Wall. Those are the two things I want to see most of all. But I love Dunk, and in reality I wanna read about it all. Except Summerhall because it's going to be so terribly sad! :bawl:

The last year of his life right before Summerhall.

Why do you want the whole year? The Summerhall event itself is all that's really necessary. Or do you prefer that GRRM keeps it mysterious forever?

Ser Glendon shrugged. "I lost count. Mortimer Boggs still owes me one. He said he'd rather eat his horse than have some whore's bastard riding her. And he took a hammer to his armor before sending it to me. It's full of holes. I suppose I can still get something for the metal." He sounded more sad than angry. "There was a stable by the… the inn where I was raised. I worked there when I was a boy, and when I could I'd sneak the horses off while their owners were busy. I was always good with horses. Stots, rounseys, palfreys, drays, plow horses, warhorses—I rode them all. Even a Dornish sand steed. This old man I knew taught me how to make my own lances. I thought if I showed them all how good I was, they'd have no choice but to admit I was my father's son. But they won't. Even now. They just won't."
"Some never will," Dunk told him. "It doesn't matter what you do. Others, though… they're not all the same. I've met some good ones." He thought a moment. "When the tourney's done, Egg and I mean to go north. Take service at Winterfell, and fight for the Starks against the ironmen. You could come with us." The north was a world all its own, Ser Arlan always said. No one up there was like to know the tale of Penny Jenny and the Knight of the Pussywillows. No one will laugh at you up there. They will know you only by your blade, and judge you by your worth.

Right but we know that that's the next book anyway. I meant more a period of Dunk's life which isn't guaranteed to be examined. At least so far.

This is what I want to read about, and I do hope this book does get a chance to make it to print. I guess, besides this... maybe where his younger days were spent, or where Arlan found him??? However, GRRM has the book Fire & Blood in progress, so I think we are pretty well set for Targ-centric history and accounts, which is also why I think this "She Wolves" book will be interesting.

Took the words right out of my mouth (fingers?). It's the one event that has so many implications for the main series.

The most interesting thing for me would be the changing circumstances Dunk is going to find himself in.

Dunk and Egg on the road can be interesting, but Dunk at Summerhall with Prince Maekar or Dunk at court with Aerys I, Bloodraven, Shiera, Rhaegel, his children, Daemon II Blackfyre, etc. could be very interesting, too.

Another great scenario could be Dunk and Egg at King Maekar's court, Dunk as Maekar's Kingsguard, being forced to serve/interact with Daeron and Aerion (assuming he joins the KG during the reign of Aerys I or Maekar).

And then, of course, Dunk at the court of Aegon V, as his closest confident, and, most likely, his Hand as well as the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. The ultimate architect of Egg's reforms is not going to be Egg. It will be Dunk. Both because he is the one who is going to open Egg's eyes about the situation the smallfolk is living in but also because Dunk is not going to remain the uneducated fool he is right now. He will get training, he will learn to read, and he will become a great politician.
