BUT -- so far, netflix hasn't acted -- or even spoken, beyond one exec saying they didn't believe the three women were telling the truth -- about The Ranch guy who roofied and raped three women, even though the cops say it's so.

I agree. I think that Netflix is playing a very clever game here and so far it has been working well. They are very "adamant" in punishing Spacey, while simultaneously evading the issue of past transgressions and the ignore status it got from them. Just like they didn't care about diversity when they ended Sense8 on the first day of Pride Month, they don't care about this. But they do care about the image. And they have been maintaining it as pristine as possible.

By the way, have you watched the SNL skit that includes reaction to lamentations to hhe end of the HOC as it was known?

https://www.vox.com/culture/2017/12/3/16729478/snl-women-welcome-to-hell

What they are saying is really bad behavior by so many men have been making hell of all women's lives forever.  So, guys, lamenting the loss of something because Kevin Spacey is a nasty piece of shyte -- join the girls' club.  It was a very clever piece of staging and skitting, but it is definitely bitter.  And despite all the all girly candy decor, it's anything but sweet.  That's how these things affect women constantly, including, like the people who work on HOC, losing income, jobs and careers.

Sadly, they have a point. But, what is more terrifying is that this became just a part of another news cycle. I feel as the conversation about this ended the moment we exhausted the pool of discovered predators. And this is not a conversation that can be sidelined. It can not become "new reality", as the girls pointed out in the video, it must be something we are fully aware of. Yes, the world is nasty and we have to know it. Every second of every day. That is the only way we can fight it.

Lastly, TBH, I was lamenting Robin Wright, whose performance was equally essential for the show's success as Spacey's. She deserved accolades and praise and now she is stuck in a project that she gave years of her life and eventually, she will get nothing. That is plainly unfair.

Due to people's reactions as of late yesterday / early this AM, netflix has written Masterson, the offending actor, out of The Ranch -- as they've written Spacey out of HOC.

But that's the point of the SNL skit -- these guys's behaviors have ruined people's lives and continue to ruin their lives, particularly the lives of women and girls and young boys.  It's the kind of behavior and actions, whether 'merely' jerky, or downright rape, that keeps affecting the victims for all their lives.  And the organizations, corporations, the boys' clubs of physicians, cops, ministers, academia, Hollywood, media, journalism, finance, lawyers, managers of fast food joints, uber, etc. cover up and keep them on.  Showing once again we must protect our own and their perks, or else we'll all suffer.

Now Laura Walker of NPR is suffering for not acting on John Hockenberry long ago, and for still covering for him after letting him go this summer.  She was protecting the franchise from the listeners, who provide donations to public radio stations around the nation, from learning the truth.  Now they know the truth and they're as angry with her -- rightfully so -- as with Hockenberry.

But Robin Wright is going to be all right -- yay!  Her role in last summer's Wonder Woman made many many people very happy.  She's already been in other films and tv programs and has more lined up.  She was using her profile from HOC to build her career as soon as it was possible, like any smart actor would.

Why Netflix decided to go ahead and re-write HOC season 6 and wrap up the series:

In the hideous circumstances in which we're living, it almost could seem heaven sent, to have Frank Underwood dead and gone and fully replaced with a woman.

Weeks of social media rallying from fans of the show may also have helped convince Netflix execs that a final season would be valuable in erasing some of the aforementioned “stink” Spacey’s actions had left on the show’s legacy. After all, there’s a sort of poetic justice in having Cards continue with a woman (Robin Wright’s Claire Underwood) as the show’s lead. “House of Cards killing off Frank and focusing on Claire is an absolutely flawless metaphor for the ideal outcome of men being outed as predators,” writer/editor Jessica Blankenship noted on Twitter the day Sarandos announced the new game plan for the show. “She was always superior by every measure, and now we can stop paying attention to him entirely.” Or, as writer Meredith Clark noted in an essay this week for NBC News, “Even in fiction, women can be trusted to clean up a man’s mess.”

Who said she was?  Don't confuse Robin Wright with Claire.

For a lot of us Claire is the far more interesting figure.

She certainly became more interesting in later seasons, but that might also be because the writing for Frank later on was pretty weak, and there was a big push to put Claire far more front and centre anyway. Even if the Spacey stuff didn't happen I would have imagined this is where they were going with it anyway.

I'm not sure what the message would be if Frank dies and Claire is even more schemingly evil than him.

Wow what a hateful, insane bunch of people. My interest in watching season 6 was already low after the decision to kill Spacey's character, but this sort of radical nonsense ensures below zero interest.

Well, quite a lot of viewers disagree with you.
