Are the Spurs making any interesting moves?

The met with Iguodala, but you see how that turned out. I've heard some whispers that they might be interested in Millsap, but I'm not sure that they'd be able to use him with Aldridge. They were also talking to Rudy Gay apparently.

And it looks like the Timberwolves are taking a strong run at Millsap. That would be interesting.

The Sixers sign JJ Redick on a one year deal (for 23 mill?). Good piece, but it kind of seems like the overpaid.

P.J. Tucker signs with the Rockets. Really don't know much about him other than he's supposed to be a good defensive piece.

The Raptors resign Ibaka and appear to be trying to resign Lowry, so I guess their just looking to keep the band together.

Nice thread title!

Wrote this in law thread after quoting @Relic about how Knicks will not buyout Melo.

Everything I've read points to this. Their not letting him walk away with nothing in return. Now, maybe the Cavs can keep Love and still get Melo, but they'll need another team.

I find it increasingly likely that the Cavs will have not improved one iota from a roster standpoint this off-season. And, that's scary for Cavs fans because I can see James seeking greener pastures. Nothing will puss him off more than the management standing still while all the good assets out there are gobbled up. He knows they need more to beat the Cavs. If he can't do it in Cleveland I can see him going elsewhere, no doubt in my mind.

Rubio is gone....how do you feel about that? Lowry could be affordable....

It's funny, literally after I made my post it came across the wire that Rubio got shipped out. I would have preferred to get a player back too, but they needed to clear space and I guess they can use that pick to sweeten a deal if nothing else. Overall I think we got a lot better by trading Rubio and adding Teague. I like Rubio a lot, and was always in the "don't trade him" camp, but Teague is a better fit and now teams can't pack the lane to stop KAT, Wiggins and Butler.

That was the word, but we just signed Gibson, so now we can only get Millsap if we dump a few contracts. We'll have to trade Dieng and Cole to make it work and have cap space left over to make something resembling an NBA level bench. My guess is we're going to lose Bazz, which stinks, but he's an enigma and he will demand a lot of money on the open market. He's like the reverse Draymond Green (by that I mean he is what you'd expect Green to be if he was an offensive specialist rather than defensive one).

Also, it looks like the Warriors have won the offseason. They're keeping their whole team intact why no other team was able to pull off something to put themselves on the Warriors' level.

This is unbelievable to me. The one way to attack this team directly is to siphon their bench, and no one managed to do this. Livingston resigns for peanuts, and I think 16 mill per for Iguodala is very reasonable. I can't believe that they are not going to lose one significant piece. I guess they are going to take a big luxury tax hit, but other than that there is no downside to this for the Warriors.

Yeah, I suspect it will be like this for the next two years. But once Klay's contract is up all hell will break loose. I suspect the Dubs stranglehold on the league ends there.

Yeah, that's going to be the first big window, but it seems to me that these teams need to take these little shots now in order to really open that window wide.

I guess the Lakers can next year. If LeBron and George go there they might have a chance if Ball and Ingram can develop. I think Ball will be really good in a few years, but I still doubt Ingram will ever develop into anything special. He's just too thin. I know people like to compare him to Durant, but Durant was 30 pounds heavier going into the draft and had a wider frame.

Yeah, that's the team I'm looking at as well to challenge. Especially if they could get LeBron and George to buy in to the same degree that Durant has for the Warriors. The thing is, that window just got setback another 2 seasons, methinks. Building a comparable superteam is just one half of the battle here. The other half is taking pieces away from the Warriors. And they just resigned two really important secondary pieces for another 3 seasons.

Yeah, I'm sure LeBron's master plan is to go play in the same division as Golden State so he has to face them in the WCF or the second round instead of the Finals, all the while babysitting Lonzo Ball, the kid who hasn't played a single game in the NBA yet and whose dad talked shit about LeBron's family recently.

Meanwhile, the Cavs basically have a bye to the Finals in the East.  I also don't really see how that Lakers team, even with George, is better than the Cavs right now.  Lonzo is unlikely to contribute for at least a couple of years.  Rookies are almost never game-changers.  And Ingram hasn't even proven that he's a replacement-level player yet.

I'm sure the same people who think LeBron is going to the Lakers to play with Ball and Ingram are the same who thought he went back to Cleveland to mentor Wiggins.  LOL.  If LeBron did go to the Lakers, Ball would be the fuck out of the there, traded for someone who is ready to win now.  LeBron is going to be 33 next summer.  He's not going to waste his time babysitting Lonzo Ball and his dipshit father.

It's been somewhat predictable , all of these Warriors re-signing.

They all realize that a good way to beat that Warriors team is for teams to try and tear them apart where possible, and then they realize that they can both continue to make money at Golden State and continue to have the best chances at winning Rings, and thus Iguadala and Livingston stay. They are 33 and 32 respectively, and it seems they just want to keep the band together and earn a little less. And that little less is still a massive amount of money. Why sign for Houston at 2 million a year more right, if you're already making 16 a year, 3 years guaranteed, when you have a much better position to win in GS.

I see the T-Wolves keep building, as do the Sixers. Redick is still very much in his prime, presumable he would start there.

I wonder what their line-up will be. I'd want to see Fultz, Redick, Simmons, Saric and Embiid all in there personally. If they could make that fit, wow. I really like Saric as well.

I think the 2nd honeymoon is over in Cleveland, briantw. Gilbert seems to have forgotten who runs his team, and I think that's likely to bite him on the ass. They've lost a GM that LeBron favored and have failed to make any significant moves. You think LeBron wants to go through the grind of another regular season and run through the East only to get blasted in the face by the same team in the Finals again? That's going to get old quick.

I don't think he'd go to Lakers, honestly. Clippers would seem more likely as they'll likely have cap room to being a few guys. In my heart, I don't think he leaves. But, he won't abide by management doing zero to improve the roster.

The first comparison that came to my mind is that the other teams are like the other 16 Republican primary candidates poking each other in the eye while ignoring the polling leader. Maybe that means Danny Ainge is Jeb Bush? Disturbing.

Thread title is harsh, but accurate. All Star Team lineups will look funny.

With P-Jax and Rob Henigan gone, is Kevin Pritchard the dumbest GM in the game now? It's unfathomable the deal he took vs. what had been on the table for the last year, let alone in the last week. Even a sign and trade involving Otto Porter would've better than what he got. At least Porter was a useful piece on a good team where Oladipo just wasn't. If any of the rumors are true that his primary motivation was getting George out of the East, he should be fired immediately.

Speaking of Otto Porter, he just got a max offer from the Kings. FML. Either if he leaves or they overpay to keep him.
