Good to see the very deserving The Night Of and Big Little Lies received several nominations, but a shame The Leftovers, Black Sails and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia did not.

Glad Westworld and Stranger Things are getting all this love. Only Winona Ryder was left out. Too bad Black Sails could never make it onto this stage, and I wish Legion and Sense8 would have gotten something.

But where are the writing and directing categories?

Here is the full list. Westworld and Stranger things again did well in both of those categories.

Sense8 got one nomination in one of the technical awards - Cinematography.

Obligatory cue for me to point out Penny Dreadful got four nominations in the costume, production etc, side of things, but again no Eva love. *sob*

Pretty good nominations this year though. Not seen all of them, and would have liked to see a few of the series I have seen nominated (Nothing for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend in either writing, acting or series is criminal) but not too much to complain about.

The love for Modern Family will always baffle me though. It's a steaming pile of shite :dunno:

When it comes to Emmys this year, I was all for The Americans, The Handmaid's Tale and Big Little Lies. Luckily, they all did rather nicely.

Per usual, I like Drama Actress category and for years, it has been my favorite. Drama Supporting Actress will be interesting, simply because Maggie Smith is out of picture :D

All of my four best leading ladies found their ways to the categories they belong to (Russel, Moss, Kidman and Wright). I do hope Gods will be good and grant Matthew Rhys an award he so richly deserves.

I expected Sense8 to be more prominent, especially in tech awards.

"This is us"... Never thought of it as that good. I suppose I will have to see it to know it.

It's a shame The Americans wasn't nominated for best drama, though. This was my least favorite season, but I still rather enjoyed it, and thought it deserves the nom more than This Is Us.

I feel like they have a mandate to nominate at least one broadcast television show in the best drama and comedy categories.  I still don't understand how House of Cards gets nominated every year, season 3 was hot garbage, and I have no desire to watch season 4 or 5.

Leftovers S3 deserved more noms for performances; Ann Dowd is great, but her one episode this season gets a nom and Coon, Theroux, and Eccleston are all snubbed? C'mon, man! Not to mention zero noms in writing and directing. Bogus.

Also really surprised to not see Jude Law get a nom for Young Pope. WTF?

Glad to see Black Mirror and The Crown got love. Also, with all the great TV this year I completely forgot about The Night Of. Glad it got some noms.

As long as Elisabeth Moss wins her category, i don't care what else happens.

Although Matthew Rhys winning would be good as well.

I don't know if I would have Moss win her category. She was good, but it's a solid category and tbh I think some of the others showed a greater range in their performance. Evan Rachel Wood or Keri Russel would be my picks

Toby Stephens, Luke Arnold, Justin Theroux, Carrie Coon, Black Sails and Leftovers deserved better.

With television coming from all over the place it might be time to increase nominations in the major categories.

I've yet to see an episode of Americans, but I'd say smart money is on Moss taking it for her performance in The Handmaid's Tale. ER Wood was good in Westworld, but personally, the best female drama performance for me is between Moss and Claire Foy for The Crown.

I'm happy to see the nominations for Westworld, especially for Jeffrey Wright.

Me too, although I think I'm rooting hardest for Newton.

It's a crime she didn't get a nomination.  That last season was perfect.  You could make an argument for any of the other main guys too, and John Logan needed a writing nod.  Feel like he's ridiculously underappreciated when one considers his track record.

this is why I love this category. It is impossible to decide. With the exception of Viola Davis, each of the ladies could win and people would be OK. And to just get into perspective, Tatiana Maslany and Claire Danes were not even nominated. It is so packed that category extension would make quite a lot of sense.

Earlier this year, Foy would have won it without a doubt (this is TV version of Mirren's Oscar landslide in a year when Dench was in "Notes on the Scandal", Streep in "Devil wears Prada" and Cruz in "Volver"), but Moss was truly astonishing. That performance was so poignant and powerful that I couldn't keep my eyes off her.

On the other hand, we have Keri Russel, the unsung hero of this category for the last 5 years. It is simply shame that there is only one of these awards.

I don't know if I would have Moss win her category. She was good, but it's a solid category and tbh I think some of the others showed a greater range in their performance. Evan Rachel Wood or Keri Russel would be my picks
