A look at the map immediately will show which is the better option. I believe that the mountains betwen the Vale and the Riverlands are impassable (for an army) except one, single pass - the Bloody Gate. Which would place the Vale's army at the Crossroads Inn. It is two or three weeks for an army from there to reach the Neck. I am not sure how easy it is to skirt the north coast between the mountains and the Bite. So, IMO it is much, much easier for the Vale's forces to converge on the ports at the mouths of the various valleys ... Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
