For those who thought that the Others built the Wall

Okay.  Nice sarcasm.  I guess I simply disagree with you.

I don't agree that a drop of salty water dripping from the mouth of the Black Gate equates to the Wall itself being salty.

Okay, I need to inform a bit here.

There is no such thing as salty ice from the sea. Salt separates from water when it freezes. Polar ice caps and icebergs are all freshwater.

The salty comment seems more to be connected to what exactly the black (actually white) gate is, a living conscious tree thingy, maybe even human in some sense.

As stated above, wherever the ice used in the wall came from, ice is never salty... although if you really want to play devils advocate, while a wall built out of ice blocks wouldn't be salty, if the saltwater was frozen onto/into/forming the wall, thn when it melted it would dissolve the salt again as it became liquid. But why would ice melt be warm?

Blood is salty though, and warm, and the weirwoods always seem to be crying red tears...

And for me the kicker is why would men build a Wall without gates...

And my question is do you think there's a man/child/entity in the roots beneath the gate? And do you think the gate was built before, during, or after the construction of the wall?
