I assumed it was the Army of the Dead ceasefire meeting, yeah. As far as I know, they didn't say anything about it, but it would make sense for Tyrion and Jaime to have invited all the Lords Paramount, to make sure everyone's going to go along with whatever they negotiate. (Plus, it might encourage the two Queens to act like diplomats.)

If I've guessed right, think the list of invitations looks like this:

  • Sansa Stark, Lady of Winterfell
  • Robin Arryn, Lord Paramount of the Vale
  • Euron Greyjoy, (Title-To-Be-Negotiated) of the Iron Islands
  • ??? Sand, Likely Princess of Dorne But Who Knows?
  • The Estate of Stannis Baratheon, Lord Paramount of Stormlands
  • Resident, The Reach

Plus 87 Frey daughters, and whichever one shows up first gets in to represent the Riverlands.

Stannis is still alive.  They never showed Brienne kill him.  Mark my words, he will be there telling people to "burn infidels" and their own children in order to melt 1 mm of snow.  If Melisandre shows up, he will tell her that "he wants her" and will play grab ass with her.

Shhh, that's a big secret!

Also, among the people who don't know the secret are Dany, Cersei, Jaime, Tyrion, and everyone else involved in planning the meeting, so that's why they sent it to Stannis's estate.

Of course Cersei hasn't bothered to appoint an executor for Stannis's estate, just as she hasn't bothered to appoint a successor to Stannis as Lord Paramount, so the invite is just going to end up in the Dead Ravens Office, but still, they tried, right?

I wasn't convinced there was an invitation. Brienne will show up in KL and find it was a ruse. Now, whose ruse is TBD. It could be Sansa, LF or Arya.

So do you think it's just a coincidence that someone faked a meeting in KL at the exact same time there's an actual meeting in KL?

I suppose that's not impossible, especially the way the show's been going coincidence-mad this season, but it wasn't my first thought.

Seriously? If Brienne didn't kill him I'm sure he killed himself after realizing that his daughter and wife died for nothing.

Well, their death didn't give him Winterfell, much less the Iron Throne, but it may have done something else. He just has to figure out what.

It's like the Black Goat cult. They sacrificed all the noble firstborn children in Qohor to help Aurion conquer the remnants of Valyria in their name. They didn't get Valyria, and Aurion and his 30000 men disappeared without a trace—but maybe that sacrifice is why their 3000 Unsullied were able to stop the unstoppable khalasar a few years later. Sure, maybe that was totally unrelated, but still, isn't it smarter to keep sacrificing noble kids anyway, just in case? We didn't leave Valyria and reject their religion just to not sacrifice our noble kids, damn it!

This travelling back and forth is turning more and more stupid, and is now bordering on the totally ridiculous. A land journey from Winterfell to Kings Landing takes weeks, and I wouldn't want to venture it at the current time considering that winter isn't just coming but has actually arrived. I'm prepared to accept Daenerys taking a dragon trip North of The Wall, although it would have taken its time including the time for the raven to bring the message to Dragonstone, but Brienne riding from Winterfell to Kings Landing in winter condition is silly beyond stupid.

Greyworm can bring Edmure Tully instead, unless he's floating around in the Twilight Zone.

Ever notice how the show doesn't give a crud who's running most of the Seven Kingdoms (plus the Riverlands)? Westerosi nobility is now basically just three families, each consisting of about three members on average. Except in the North, which is allowed to have subordinate lords.

Okay, you got Snow in the North, Sweet-Robin in the Vale, technically Dany in the Rock, Cersei in the Crownlands not counting Dragonstone, Urine on the Iron Islands, no one in the Reach, no one in the Stormlands, no one in Dorne, and gods know who in the Riverlands.

If I were the peasantry I'd stroll into near by castles and take all the food, because no one's minding the store.

I don't think that the invitation is from Jon or Daenerys. Jon chose Sansa as ruler over Winterfell (and the North) in his absence. So she should stay in Winterfell and shouldn't go to Kings Landing where anything could happen and where she cannot do her duty. In addition Jon, the King in the North, will be there personally, so there shouldn't really be any need to send Sansa or a second representative from Winterfell.

I thought that the meeting was just Cersei, Dany, and close advisors, not a broader group, but perhaps I wasn't paying attention. I thought the invitation to Sansa was either from Cersei as part of her standard Bend the Knee demands or fake. I like the Red Gathering idea much better.

Complicated. Brienne is not willing to go to KL in place of Sansa, so it's odd that she would trust letting Sansa see Cersei alone by Cersei's invitation. Would she have escorted Sansa there? Brienne says "they want you there". That could imply to Jon and Daenarys but Dany only confirms helping Jon with NK when Jon is lying in bed in the ship. They would have had to send the invitations before their flight arrangements.

I assume they are showing the scenes in chronological sequence. And Sansa gets the invitation while Jon and Dany are still at the wall.

"They" could also be Varys and Tyrion, could they?

I was very confused about the invitation too. My best guess is that it is the same invitation that Sansa and Jon discussed in Ep1 when Cersei demanded them to bend the knee. Sansa just made the maester bring it and used the letter as a pretext to get Brienne out of Winterfell. Sending Brienne there would kind of suicide mission though...

So maybe it really is a new invitation but why would Cersei ask Sansa / Jon to come wintess the meeting with Daenerys when Cersei knows that Jon was declared king and the North and Cersei are basically enemies???

It was another "Godfather" moment. "Keep your friends close. And your enemies closer".
