Bran's Tourney
Poor gal. See how easily Sam takes credit for her find... Break the wheel of misogeny!
Bran's Tourney
Or was she reading one of Sam's "transcriptions"? They way that scene played out, felt like Sam just biffed it...

In fact, when Sam and Gilly were discussing it, he was VERY dismissive of it, and basically mocked and ridiculed it. With Bran, though...not so much. Ours is the Brewery
Since he was merely telling this to Bran, Bran knows the truth of it, he sees all.
Japper007
Sam clearly states it in the episode: he's the translator. Gilly was just reading his recently translated stuff back to him last episode, which is why he reacted so annoyed towards her. He just bloody read that part himself probably! Rheagar's annulment also probably came off as the usual Targ shennanigans to Sam last episode, but with the context that Jon is his son, it suddenly becomes important. Which language did the High Septon use that Sam can translate from? Quartheen?
Dragonslack
Frankly simply THE prince annulling a marriage and marrying in secret would be anything but dull and of no consequence.
Camara
I think for him the annullment was not important because it had no implications as Rhaegar's line was thought to be ended. I think it is implied he did read it because Gilly says Rhaegar married some woman although here he clearly says Lyanna. He could have inferred that from Bran but I think the way it worked out he really read the story and knew it was Lyanna. The only thing is that he knew Lyanna's "kidnapping" was a catalyst for one of the most important wars of recent memoy and Jon as a Stark would absolutely want to know the info about Lyanna loving Rhaegar, so he should have sent a raven or so. Sam's reaction is perfectly logical. Gilly is reading back what he has written so he already knows it. His response to her reading it back is to get angry and leave the citadel. It is irrelevant to Sam because what he is concerned about is the White Walkers while Cersei and co are fighting the war of five kings instead. And realizing that the whole war is based on a lie is only making him angrier. He does not want to explain this to Gilly because it is all stupid.
