PASSAGE ONE ANSWERS

1 Aviation believer. Exceptionally vapid. Often suggests takeoff.

Robert “Sweetrobin” Arryn (The Vale of Arryn)

2 Agile boy expresses voicelessly. Opting stilettos, therefore.

Wex Pyke (The Iron Island of Pyke)

3 A behemoth embarks. Vomits ostentatiously. Serves toast.

Archibald Yronwood (Castle Yronwood)

4 Testified – monster murdered (?) highness – eventually died redly.

Gyles Rosby (Rosby Road and Castle)

5 Although Barren, estate's value offers suitors temptation.

Donella Hornwood (Hornwood forest and castle)

6 The magnifying man has eleven-ish damp roofs.

Rodrik “The Reader” Harlaw (The Iron Island of Harlaw)

7 Aflame, bronze emblem, variant of “southern” totem.

Sigorn of Thenn, now of House Thenn (The region of Thenn)

Theme: Characters with a name that contains the name of something on the map of Westeros

Free character: Wyman Manderly (The river Mander). His is the only river and the only one with a suffix.

One player did correctly identify the theme in the dying minutes of the round.

Please vote for your favourite clue in private ASAP and provide a new clue for the next round if you have not already done so. I would like to start the new round in approximately 24 hours. Thanks.

Please refrain from grumbling about clues on the thread until after the voting process. You can vent any grievances before then at me in private if you wish to.

My in-thread hints were trying to get you to think about names and map locations. I realise I sent many of you off researching journeys but I didn't want to make it too easy. I think it turned out to be tricky because we haven't had a previous theme quite like it.

It was not me :ninja:
I tried to think about the theme and kept forgetting what characters are in the group. Forgot even that my own character is in the group. And asked for the answer two days in advance. Or two days, I do not remember.
Quite a few times I thought, 'Oh, Pyke like Pyke, Hornowood like Hornwood, Rosby like Rosby', but I never decided to get it, just thought that it might be dull for them.

The theme was good!

Yes, it was a good theme. I was also quite close to it in the last moments, but I thought of characters who were named after their home regions, and I decided it didn't work for Robert Arryn because the Vale of Arryn was named after the family and not the other way  round. Also, I was pretty convinced about a character guess that turned out to be wrong, and, of course, that character didn't fit this theme at all, so I thought it was no good and made no effort to make this guess.

Also congratulations to whoever got the correct theme!

thank you...thank you all ...it was i...

and i was convinced the theme was all characters had a y in their name...then i figured out harlaw...

the hints were there for me in the end

however 2 of the characters i had fit theme but not clues, but i went with them anyway...for example i was convinced one clue was not human at all and if it was there was only one person who fit theme...Aegon's High Hill... ;)

AT least you got Rosby. I had Tyrion for that. For telling Oberyn about Amory Lorch. That was my first thought and I didn't change it. Didn't even think 'testify' - who had a trial?

So we were on our way to the next port, when suddenly a hand appears in the sea.

"What's this?" I asked my first mate, "It looks as if someone is drowning!"

"No," first mate Humfrey explained, "It's just a little wave."

The frontrunner casts a free shadow on the other voyagers, the only seafarer to correctly answer all the clues and took 3 favourite votes as well. A salty old rocksniffer seadawg proved his mapping mettle to identify the theme and take the second spot. Lurking behind, talented pair Castellan and Julia H are itching to mount a challenge, with Raisin' Bran not far behind them. Newcomer jezzie_bell was unlucky, having considered the theme and mentioned the fake theme, while the busy Ser Not Appearing plays for just a few minutes of fun per week.

PASSAGE TWO HINTS

1 Warrior's bitterness with pater forces distance.

2 Staffed escort thoroughly trounces illegitimate.

3 Wine blends with philematologist's frock divinely.

4 Who bargained with peaches for death?

5 Weary bespangled warrior postpones fishy death.

6 Sniggering escort treats teammate insolently.

7 Wicked big warrior. Putrefied fiendish defender.

For two important keys to unlocking this theme, seek what is hidden by chameleon colour scheme.

Soon you will set off again, riding those wooden horses, but not until you have received your R3 character, who will arrive to your ship on the morrow. Take your time to speak with your R2 passengers, for they may disembark before you push out again.

The deadline will be set provisionally to Friday 6th October at 7pm UK time

Shortly, your First Mate will bring aboard a new passenger for R3. Your R2 passenger may dismount or ride onwards with you if so desired.

Your R3 acronym choices will be:

S T B T

or

L R O D

Once your final character is onboard, you may set sail once again to wherever champions go.

I would hurry though, for I have intel that a mystery benefactor has placed a bounty on your heads. Be wary of your First Mate and crew, in case they get any ideas, but know that they have been included in this bounty. You must choose somewhere away from Westeros to dock your ships at the end of the round. Westeros is not safe for you or your crew anymore.

Godspeed, voyagers!

It was me, I placed a reward for my head :ninja:
