DraculaAD1972
When Stannis Baratheon's cavalry deserted, after Shireen was burned, did they defect to Ramsay? Was the cavalry that Ramsay used against Stannis the same cavalry Stannis used against the Wildings?
Lucius Lovejoy
I think that D&D meant for Stannis' sellswords to have taken all of the horses and ridden out to the coast to secure passage back overseas to Essos. The whole cavalry sneaking up on Stannis think when he was preparing to lay seige was just a thing that looked cool on TV like the Dothraki loot train attack in S7 catching the Lannisters/Tarlys unawares was just a thing that looked cool on tv. Neither makes sense from a military perspective, especially the cavalry at winterfell - anyone with eyes would have noticed mounted soldiers leaving winterfell before they were only 100 yards away.
