U.S. Politics: A City Upon A Hill Has Lost It's Shine.

If McCain is actually voting no, Collins and Paul definitely are.  Murkowski too in all likelihood.  There's still a week to go, which means a dude like McCain has at least a dozen changing of the minds left.

I really don't think he'd say this now if he was going to switch. He didn't bother with the drama this time. I'm pretty sure Rand Paul is going to flip though, in exchange for a "clean" Obamacare repeal vote, since it's the bs he pulled last time. And Collins is likely a no, so it's basically down to Murkowski and their attempts to buy her off.

Trump attacked Colin Kaepernick tonight calling him a son of a bitch and saying how owners should get protesters off the field and fire them.

Attacking another black person that uses their freedom of speech.

But he's not a white supremacist.

That poser doesn't get to comment on anything having to do with the NFL after bailing out on the Patriots before the game was decided. Half-assed, fake fan who showed his lack of commitment to the game when he walked away from perhaps the greatest superbowl finale of all time.

I wish every NFL player would take a knee this Sunday as an emphatic "Fuck You" to Trump and to call him out on his bullshit. It would be VERY impactful.

Would LOVE to see that. It wouldn't even have to be every player. If they could just get a subset of players from every team to all do it on the same week (or better yet, week to week) it would be huge. We are already seeing more and more players do this.

/Seems to me a widely respected player, like say a Micheal Bennett from the Seahawks could organize something like this. It would be fun to watch the Red State stadiums absolutely lose their minds. And Trump as well, of course.

The federal government on Friday told election officials in 21 states that hackers targeted their systems before last year’s presidential election.

The notification came roughly a year after U.S. Department of Homeland Security officials first said states were targeted by hacking efforts possibly connected to Russia. The states that told The Associated Press they had been targeted included some key political battlegrounds, such as Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin.

The AP contacted every state election office to determine which ones had been informed that their election systems had been targeted. The others confirming were Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas and Washington.

IDK how much it has been talked about in here honestly, but Trumps remaking of the federal justice system seems to have gone largely unnoticed, and it will have repercussions long after he is out of office and when he is eventually and thankfully dead. His nominations and appointments to federal judge and attorney positions have been made up of people not based upon competency, but for two reasons -- loyalty to Trump and fodder for hardline religious and bigoted right wing voters  and representatives.

One of my neighbors likes to proudly point this out to me and say this is reason enough to have voted for trump.  Even if he gets us into a nuclear war, well by golly at least he got the worst bigotted scum in the courts to make sure those brown queer women don't get anything good.

This is why you shut down Milo by any means necessary and you don't let him have platforms and you protest universities allowing this scumbag to "speak."

Oh, but he's white and male so when he advocates violence and harassment towards others, it's just freedumb of speach.

Ha -- I wonder if tromperola noticed that the response to his assholery shows the world that the NFL players are far more popular than he is?

And he's still howling about wanting no rules and regulations for protecting the players' heads.  One can hardly be more racist than demanding black men hurt each other for his entertainment.

But he did this absent of any speaking platform. He simply posted it online. Which just goes to show that protesting his events doesn't prevent him from doing this sort of thing. It just brings him more views.

He's even catching shit from Roger Goodell.

This is just another case where he's pulling shit out of his ass. Talking about firing players who protest? Do you own a fucking team? STFU. You helped bankrupt a league (the USFL) You don't have the slightest idea of what you're talking about.

He's attacking Kaep again and also took a shot at Steph Curry. LeBron dunked on Trump and called him (Trump) a bum as well as a liar.

I actually had a family member grumbling about that LeBron tweet. "Doesn't the President deserve respect, even if you disagree with him, calling the President a bum, really?"

The answer is no. No one deserves respect for holding office, we don't have a king who demads honorifics, we told that guy to fuck off. Donald Trump is human shit, always has been. He deserves all the scorn, ridicule, and lack of sympathy his behavior, policies, and expressed beliefs merit.

Totally agree with this.

I'll never be one of those "He's not my president" people. Because even though I didn't vote for him, he is the President of the USA and as long as I'm a citizen of the USA whoever holds that office is my president.

That he has brought and is bringing shame, embarrassment, distrust, and disgust to the office is another story entirely. I'll call him out on that and call him human scum for doing so. He's diminished the dignity of the office and because he is my president, he's not just diminished himself and the Republicans, he's diminished all of us who call ourselves citizens, which is something we must accept, but should also be mad as hell about, and I fucking am.

I increasingly get the feeling that I'm watching an elaborate episode of Dr Who.

The Master seems to have taken over the body of some random, irrelevant reality TV "personality", and decided to jeapardise the planet in order to secure adulation for his ego.

Did they say the same thing when Trump was questioning Obama's birth place and calling for his birth certificate and pushed that racist narrative for years?

And I agree, he doesn't deserve an ounce of respect, especially with all the shit he was saying years before he ever ran and then the shit he was saying during his campaign and has continued to say.

"Respect the office" is a term they magically learned last November somehow.

I also love the "stick to sports/ entertainment" line, or "he's just some athlete/comedian"

I guess "Stick to ugly buildings, failed casinos, bad reality TV, your racist twitter feed and stay out of politics" doesn't quite have the same ring to these people.

I'm trying to figure out if this conclusion is just the result of being simple-minded or an evil sob just really invested in trying to convince decent folks that milo ought to be able to do what he wants without consquence.
