why was military of  Riverland in war of five kings only have at its peak  about same number as NEF/north expeditionary force if they had larger population?they should have a larger military that the north.

There is an SSM on this:

Quote

Dragonstone appears to be the least powerful. The Riverlands and Stormlords appear to fall in the middle I imagine.

Dragonstone is last, agreed. The riverlands are rich and fertile and populous, but suffer from divided leadership and a lack of natural boundaries. The stormlands have lots of trees and rocks and rain.

A few comments:

1. It is not confirmed which of the North or the Riverlands has the highest population, or the largest army. We just know that the Riverlands have a higher population density.

2. The Riverlands had already suffered significant losses by the time Robb arrived.

3. The Tullys struggle to raise the united strength of the Riverlands at the best of times. And after the war had already taken its toll, this unity was broken down even more.
