So now Rogelio "has never been close to any child but Mateo"? Rogelio has two more daughters! :bang: This show just doesn't make any sense anymore.

Vanessa and Victoria aren't Rogelio's. They are from a previous union of their mother. We don't know how old they were when their mom got together with Rogelio but it's never indicated that he ever did any bonding or parenting with them other than buying them expensive gifts and helping them to celebrity events. it's never indicated that he has a father-daughter relationship with them.

Yeah. I just checked the Wiki about the show and it turns out you are right. Weird, I always thought they were his. My bad.

Josh is straight up dumb. He is the dumb, sexy ,small town jock stereotype. Apart from the fact that West Covina is quite big. But the actor has such a cute face.

I know right! Everybody keeps acting like West Covina is this tiny backwards town, but then they show the board with the population number ...

I don't think he is either cute or hot. I think Greg looks better.

Mr sweetface is adorable and you'll warm to four year old Mateo too, he is just aaaaaw you want to eat him. I don't know why he was recast for the new season, he could have totally passed as 5 year old Mateo too. Oh well. Mateo is adorable and so are the twins with the stupid names.

The twins' names are the best. "Nobody but you would connect that, Jane."

Yeah that lady is the polar opposite of Jane and it's nice how they shed some light on each other's world and get a little more sensitive about the opposite point of view. And yes, Jane finished school and you'll see what she is up to career wise. (again, don't expect anything reasonable, it's a soap opera and that line is especially unbelievable)

True, Jane's jobs are just all over the place. But then it is also a show with crazy murders, twin swaps left and right, secret mysterious family members and such ...

ehhhh Rebecca talks about nothing but boys. Or herself. She has some quarrels with Paula that aren't centered around guys, and with her mom but that latter was one episode so far. Actually I'm wondering if selling the Galisomething ring or what will come back to bite her in the arse. (And one point I had thought it was the ring Aunt Myrna gave Josh to propose to Valencia, but apparently such was never revealed)

Rebecca is incredibly self-centered, maybe even more so than Josh-centered. Even when she is about Josh, she is really just about herself. After all, her obsession with him is just a symptom of her own crises. Oh, you will see that ring again. ;)

I'm sorry the Michael thing pissed you off :/ I thought Michael was kinda annoying and boring because he was too much of a good guy and a doormat, but I can understand that many people are upset about what happened.

I really like Alba too, and generally the Villanueva women dynamics and relationships. I also like Jane, she is sometimes over the top and annoying but she is an overall enjoyable female lead. The Sin Rostro thing is a pain in the arse, and I really really can't stand Luisa though her relationship with Rafael is indeed one of the nice things about her. I like the hotel stuff a lot even though it's ridiculous that a hotel owner would live in his hotel. Rogelio is a little annoying and the Xo-Ro stuff is very tiring. The selling point to me is basically Petra who is an amazing character imo, and the narrator and the editing, it's just so so hilarious.

Spoiler

I don't think he was a doormat? And a good guy - since when is goodness in the sense that Michael was good a bad thing? What he was was a stable, rational person that realistically a girl would want to be her boyfriend. Jane and he obviously had a really good relationship, they had the same humour, they completely trusted each other and could rely on each other. I don't think it is fair for the show to ruin that. :crying:

Jane is sometimes really annoying. Half the time she is apologising to various people for everything she does, because she bursts out without thinking and says all the wrong things, and the show shows it like an adorable quirk or something that is not really her fault or that she is just always right.

Luisa getting together and apart with SIn Rostro all the time is just annoying. I really wish her to cut all contact and to never have Sin Rostro in her life again, and focus on the brother-sister closeness.

It is clear that they are never losing the ownership of the hotel and they will always win with everything, so whenever they start talking about more bodies found there/property lines/lawsuits about inheritance/bad publicity/whatever, I just wait for the scene to be over. I understand the need to keep the characters in one place, so okay, the owners live there and now Jane (temporarily) works there too, and Alba works in the gift shop. ( Jorge!)

Xo is way too good for Rogelio the narcissist.

The narrator is amazing, how much he is into it!

GREG LOOKS BETT--- okay. You and I will never ever have fight over a guy. Not that such would happen as an actual real life thing, but you get what I mean.

Yeah, that's what I said the first time I whine about the show to you guys. she is sooooooo selfish.

That's exactly why this had to happen. Michael and Jane as a couple was too normal for this show, there had to be a soapy twist.

Yeah that's all true about the Marbella, but I don't think you are ever expected to believe that they will actually lose it.

what do you think about Rogelio's alarm ring tone? It's gonna be a beautiful day, Rogelio, wake up Rogelio, the day awaits...! My god that's so funny. And no, don't even expect a rational reason for why I found that funny and the tap that ass song not funny. These things are not rational.

Btw, I like Nathaniel a lot, it was high time something actually happened. He is such a jerk. A nerdy Harry Potter fan jerk and I love that he is a jerk because this show needed a jerk. And someone also need to whip out a whip and make those people do actual work at the law office.

I really miss the gurlgang times. It was a refreshing novelty after the josh obsession. And now the wedding obsession. Oh god, she is insane.....

and I really like Valencia since she broke up with Josh and I ship maya and Nathaniel.

To quote Paula: "He should be a search term on porn sites."

The smalltown West Covina thin I think I talked to you about in PM before but you need to consider the size of both California the State and the U.S as a whole. Rebecca, after all, comes from New York which is many times the size and pace of West Covina which is really a pretty relaxed sleepy place.

Ooooh, I've been eyeing Moana for a while....but I'm not sure I would like it.

How would you say it compares to Frozen  or Brave?

Oh, I find that actually funny. And I also like how Rogelio takes Mateo to clothes fitting and talks all the adult stuff with him. (Okay, I like scenes with children in general.) It is Rogelio when he is awake and around adults I cannot stand. He treats his employees like slaves, cannot understand how other people feel, and is obsessed with Twitter. I knew that him and Xo are always going to be on the table, but I think she could choose so much better than Rogelio.

Also also also Alba.

Oh, okay, Nathaniel being a jerk and you liking him a lot is a funny combination. :D

Not to mention, with the way she is spending (on the wedding), she is going to be broke again very soon. (That does not happen in S2, this is just my prediction for the future.)

Maya and Nath... *jaw drops* Wait what? Have we ever seen these two even talk alone to each other? What a weird idea is this? :o We don't even know anything about Maya's relationship status or preferences. This is so random.

Actually now I wonder if we should go a step crazier and start shipping Heather and Nathaniel. Now that would be out of the blue. :D

Well the time jump justifies not spending an entire season on Jane's grief and misery because it would be impossible to deliver that and not depress the audience. And imo it would even be worse if there was no time jump and Jane was like sad for two episodes or so. Michael meant more than that and jumping three years ahead kinda makes you believe that... also, it did change things, kinda, you could say... Jane wrote her epic novel about Michael...?

Yeah well that's just how Rogelio is supposed to be funny. Which either aligns with one's sense of humor or not. He can be really really annoying sometimes.

Ohhhh I'm sure that would last an entire episode again like last time she was broke. She makes like a quarter of what she made in nYC and she still wears louboutins and Hermes bags. And if we are at finances, it was sweet that Valencia who wasn't in the lease got to keep the flat and live there while josh who paid for it became homeless and couldn't afford a place... like... sure. And I guess I am to assume that the Rogelio scholarship is paying for Paula's law school too and a law firm owner can't afford braces for his child unless he sells the firm. These don't bother me too much, actually, but now that you brought it up...

it's based on nothing, but maya is just there and she has no purpose, and it's getting kinda too much that everybody is obsessed with Rebecca as if she was the only woman on the planet.

No, heather was perfect with Greg. They were cute.

Is there a prince and a love story or does it follow the standard 2010+ Modern Disney pattern? Because I need a prince and love story, otherwise it's not Disney.

The not changing anything comment referred to the boring Marbella complications.

Obviously Michael changed her life in a lot of ways.

Well, I am sure the more expensive things she has and wears are those she brought over from NY.

Valencia keeping the flat after not being on the lease makes no sense, I agree.

I was under the impression that Paula's school is not a very expensive one? She and Scott both have jobs and a stable life already. Plus probably her workplace is paying for a part of the tuitition as a employee training/educating? I did not think that was weird.

I do not remember that was the reason he sold the firm. I am pretty sure he and the ex-wife should have been able to buy braces for the child. He is just an incompetent leader - and now also apparently incompetent with domestic finances.

No prince, no love story. More like a friendship story with a demi-god.

Well those never make sense they are just for the heck of soapiness.

yeah, that's an option I suppose, but then I would have addressed that it's actually kinda frustrating when you can't afford your lifestyle anymore.

Yeah, that's an option, the firm paying part of it, I didn't think of that, you're right.

im sure that wasn't The Reason, but he did say Madison's teeth were all over the place when he was justifying selling the firm.

No Prince sounds much better than emasculating/villainizing the prince and making love true and honest only between female sisters or friends. I'll it a go.

So, I'm in a particularly bitchy mood today, let's write that and midnight Nutella toasts off as being hormonal and moody. And I kinda hate everybody right now. I'm pissed at my flat mate who baked some sausage pastry things at 11pm last night and the dirty dishes were on the counter at 11am today (which I very hormonally and passive aggressively didn't squeeze in the dishwasher before I left). And I'm pissed at these blond forty-something tourists at the next table who put up their legs on their suitcases so they just hang over my table like twenty centimeters from my coffee. like, do people do that in your country? And I'll be really pissed if flatmate's boyfriend is still there when I get back.

On the upside, I have picked my next show to binge.

Better than Frozen for me. A little lower than Brave as Brave has more of a supporting cast, who are all fun and Scottish!

No love story. The film has a very strong theme of identity and being true to yourself. I suppose the closest it comes to a love theme is her love for the sea. It's biggest weakness is definitely once it gets going there are really only two characters in it, Moana and Maui, there's a mentally disabled chicken, and the sea, but they obviously don't have any dialogue.

Okay, I'll reconsider that previous statement.

:tantrum::tantrum::tantrum: I'M SO MAD.

Spoiler

I rage cleaned the house, ordered dinner but there's no goddamn fig in my fig and goat cheese salad and the cork broke into my wine and I did the fucking dishes that of course weren't cleaned up after last night and like for fuck's sake. And I'm trying to put up the... things you hang your coat on, but I'm so stupid when it comes to drills but I'll google how to do it because I'm so sick of waiting for other people to do shit, I'll just do it all myself, after I eat my figless salad and drink all that corky wine which is actually really really yummy apart from the tiny pieces of cork. And I'm also sick of proof reading shit for people asap and editing their 9th grade mistakes when they won't even take twenty minutes out of their day to read my shit. Because they are busy. Everybody is busy. And What they are busy with is more important than what I'm busy with. No wait, I'm not even busy, it's not like I have work or chores to do, or errands to run, or stuff to organize, or some begging to do so other people do their jobs. Like I do nothing all day every day and that's soooo unimportant nothing too. *breathes out*

sorry about that.

WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED?! @Buckwheat

i mean this the classic case of we are running out of plot so let's twist everything around and whip out a huge background plot that's never ever been referred to before, but now we'll pretend it's been there all along and it's been very important, GOD I HATE when shows do this.

AND THAT WAS THE SEASON FINALE?

I'm done with this show.

I promise I will shut up after this, but:

Spoiler

Sister and the Suit Jacket

- comedy in 3 acts

Act 1

Sunday afternoon 5pm - over the phone

sister: listen, do you have like a suit jacket for a couple hours that I can borrow? Need it for a shoot.

RhaeB: I do but how do I get it to you?

Sister: problem is we'll be shooting the scenes this week and I don't have anything like that but my character wears them all the time.

RhaeB: okay, but how do I get it to you?

Sister: are you like home at your house right now? Because we could pick it up today.

RhaeB: who will pick it up today?

Sister: dad.

RhaeB: it's a two-hour drive.

Sister: yeah but I was thinking we could go there on the way back to the dorm.

RhaeB: I live in the opposite direction. It's a two-hour detour.

Sister: okay but I really need a suit jacket.

RhaeB: ask mom and dad if and how they can get it down to you during the week, And I'll Give it to them on Monday.

Sister: okay.

Act 2

Sunday afternoon 5:30 pm - RhaeB's parents' living room

sister: so you know I need that suit jacket for my shoot next week, and the one mom gave is too large for me, so RhaeB could lend me one, but I don't know how she could get it to me.

Mom: I don't care.

Dad: Figure it out, we are watching tv.

Sister: can't we get it today?

Dad: there's like football on tv.

Mom: omg are you insane, how long have you known you need a suit jacket why did you only tell us now, why didn't you think of it before, you are so stupid and unorganized you never pay attention to anything, you would lose your head if it wasn't attached to your neck, just wear mine , why do you even care you look like a freak from the 90s in it, that's totally fine for camera, Jesus, go to your room, and let us watch tv.

Sunday afternoon 5:40 pm - over the phone

sister: so they told me to figure it out and they don't care and that you should send it via post, but that won't be here on time.

RhaeB: I can do that, it'll be there by Wednesday-ish.

Sister: that could work, just take a photo of the suit jacket first.

RhaeB: okay, you don't just need a suit jacket, you need a suit jacket that's a perfect fit and style.

sister: I told you mom's is too large, just take a photo.

rhaeB: okay, I'll take a photo.

Act 3

sunday evening 7 pm - over the phone

sister: so have you taken a photo yet? And hey, do you have like a large jewel you could also send?

RhaeB: I don't have a large jewel.

Sunday evening 7:05 pm - RhaeB's closet

*rhaeB slams her suit jackets onto the  edge of a drawer and takes photos and sends them over*

sunday evening 8 pm - over the phone

sister: which one is the most form fitting?

RhaeB: just pick one for fuck's sake.

sister: the first two then.

*curtains*

I. Can't. Even.

*curtains*

I. Can't. Even.

I feel like I should be asking you for those 2 minutes back :P, why doesn’t she go and buy something appropriate for what she needs rather than bother you and your parents?.

In other news I went shopping yesterday and today, we’ve been stocking up on baby stuff already :D.

You totally should. And I have no idea, it's easier to get other people to figure out problems.

that sounds really exciting! Are you already working on  the nursery too?

American Gods:

1. I don't know who shot and edited this stuff, but they need an oscar or an Emmy or something right now.

2. Shit is so weird and abstract it gave me forehead wrinkles.

3. One and a half episodes in, we'll see how it goes.

Did you read the book?

It's beautiful for sure, and has made some smart choices with certain characters. It does unfortunately sometimes border on bloat, it's a little longwinded. We'll have to wait to see how it all ends up, in hindsight it may be justified.

Have you seen Legion? It's really worth a look, it blows AG's out the water visually.

No, I'm really clueless about the story, I started watching it because ricky whittle is in it. I'll probably do a quick googling before I move on to the next episode, in hope that I'll have a little more clue about what's happening.

No, might check it out. Also want to check out The Last Kingdom S2, have you  watched that?
