AHHHHHHHH!

Funny thing, my son (who's now 15! yikes!) is working on Friday and Saturday nights at a place called "Land of Fear" where his job is to scare people.  There are small children who work there too! (their parents work there).  It's kinda weird.  (as a temp/seasonal job they don't have to follow age/pay rules, as long as a parent signs off on it)

Scaring people sounds like a dream job.

Bolded part: they don't have to follow any laws? Or they have to follow less stringent laws?

They don't have to follow the age or pay laws.  We also sign waivers in case of injury.  At the end of the season, they get paid based on profits and their personal performance.

Nice to see you Buckwheat! :grouphug:

I should try to pop in more often.

According to study by the National Highway Institute, (I think that's what it's called), driving while tired can be just as bad as driving drunk.  I used to have over an hour drive each way to work, and before I knew I had sleep apnea, it would get so bad I would pullover at a park & ride lot on my way home and take a 15 minute nap so I could safely make it the rest of the way.

Do be careful on your way home.

I remember an episode of Mythbusters proving the same thing.

I drive about half an hour there, but the problem is, my job(s) are in so different scattered locations and every time only 2 hours at a time. So I have to get up at like 5.10 AM to get to class at 7 (I do not have to drive to that one, a coworker drives), and then I go back home for a few hours, and in the afternoon I have two more hours at a different location. I can drive there for about half an hour ... or I take the stupid public transport option and spend like an hour an a half commuting in each way (for 90 minutes of work!). I choose to drive, but I agree, it is not something I would do if the other option was not so shitty.

Luckily this is only once a week. I have to get up at 5.10 tomorrow as well, but I do not have any afternoon work. After the class on Tuesday, I am completely useless for the rest of the day because of the early rising two days in a row.

Oh I got that one!

'Do you feel disgusted and uneasy with your current butter?'

Oh. Actually it was not meant as a reference to that, but if you choose to take it that way, you are welcome to. ;) Catch up soon and join us in the discussion thread. :P

This just sounds really shitty for the worker.

I thought so too, but it's 5 weeks. just at night, 5:30pm to about 11 (unless they are very busy).  There are a few older adults who do it, but it is mainly young adults and teenagers.  I think most do it for fun.  At least our weather has been decent.  It's all outside.  They have this area set up to resemble part of a town, the workers do skits and stuff, all designed to scare people.  Alex is a werewolf.

Hi there, Lany, nice to see you around! how is the SS going?

I want to rewind to Saturday morning and start this complete waste of a weekend over. I still have one evening to salvage, at least. And I could pet the dogs.

Hi Rhae.  SS is going pretty slow, but a lot of people like to wait until the last minute.

Wow. Working until 11 PM for a teenager must be tough. I am not sure that is even allowed here. I know there are some restrictions what kind of jobs underage persons can do, they probably concern working times too.

I have an evening lesson on Fridays until 10 PM, which is just weird.

Yeah, it's still pretty early for Christmas stuff. That's what I keep telling myself too, though I will totally start watching Christmas movies the moment it's November. my soul needs christmas movies. and a puppy.

Normally my apprentice would be joining me in such endeavours but he seems to be too busy making himself miserable working at a newspaper or something, so yes, you’re more than welcome.

She had a great birthday, I ended up getting her some presents that she loved and we spent the day just us, it’s a bit scary though, only a few months until I turn 30 too .

Yeah, tell me about it, I have 9 weeks till I turn 25 :bawl: I had honestly thought I would be somewhere in life by the age of 25.

My Fun Rhae and Adult Rhae alter egos were locked in the closet on Friday night by Douche Teen Rhae.

I like the new Jane episode, btw.

You have achieved a lot, RB! Look, you are in your own excellent new apartment, which is a big achievement at that age. :) You also have a MA, which is great.

And here I am turning 26 in less than two months. <_<

Careful Bucky, your Eurocommie socialist roots are showing :P

Why would I be careful about that? I am not afraid to show it!

My grandfather would be so proud.

It's just Friday and Saturday...and most kids are still up playing on-line at that time, but Alex is one of those who need 10+ hours of sleep, so it's often nearly noon before he gets up.  I would never allow it on a school night.  I make him shower at 9, in bed by 9:30 because he's so hard to get up at 6 (8 hours really is his minimum amount of sleep needed)

Yeah, I hate that we really have to start this so early.  I think we could delay it two weeks, but then most people would only have two weeks to shop since shipping should really be done the first week of December

I mean, yeah, from a certain point of view you could say I did, but it doesn't feel like it... never mind. The next five years will be richer in life events. And thanks for reassuring me :grouphug:

oh, yeah our birthdays are kinda close, right? You are a December baby too.

And by the way, I'm playing with the idea of a potential birthday trip to Vienna. I might hit you up in pm If/when I commit to  anything.

And my commie roots share your opinion about such work arrangement. :commie:

Oh boy, going to bed at 9:30...and I'm struggling to get myself to go to bed at midnight at least. But then, I get up at 8:00-ish.

Yeah and I suppose shipping takes up a heck of a long time.
