I suspect the show isn't far off, that something is written somewhere and Sam will find out. Insofar as witnesses go we have HR and possibly Lem Lemoncloak. As close to the vest as Doran Martell plays it he could know. Wylla could suddenly appear. This maybe maester who should have been at the TOJ. Proof? Something written and something in the crypts...and lots of dreams. Those crypts dreams can't be solely about not being a Stark. Rubies washing up at the Quiet Isle lead me to believe there may be something there--Jonathor Derry? Ghost of High Heart could be visited again. Hell, there may be something in Aemon's personal correspondence from Rhaegar telling the whole story. Bloodraven could explain it to Bran after a weir vision.
