So who are supposed to be the sensitive snowflakes?

I always thought it was Republicans anyway. You know the kind of asshole who believes in American exceptionalism and that UHC couldn't work in the US because "America is different".

I saw that in my edit.  The University is in the wrong.  Threatening explusion for heckling speeches is, in my opinion, a suppression of free speech.

Worth bearing in mind its coming from the Walker appointed board along with being incredibly broad

Oh well, you have to do it in real life face to face or the full effect, but yeah I hope they are.

I stay away from nazis.  And when I have to be near them (which is more often than not, I live in super conservative confederate land), I'm too scared to upset them.  Because they are snowflakes who threaten violence constantly.

I found this Breitbart article fascinating:
http://www.breitbart.com/big-hollywood/2017/10/07/nolte-playboys-hugh-hefner-liberated-us-straight-hell/

The reason I like reading Breitbart is because it gives you this kind of incredible insight into the conservative mind, that quite frankly, I would have a hard time believing if it wasn't right there on the -internet- page.

There's so much to unwrap here. The hatred for the sexual liberation, the idea of a moral decadence, the idealization of the past... etc.
The article also lays bare some of the fundamental contradictions of modern conservatism. For instance, the author starts by reaffirming his dedication to individual rights and the first amendment, and then goes on to lament the consequences.

Fascinating and depressing. In some ways I actually agree with him--I was not a fan of Hugh Hefner nor am I fond of pornography myself. But his lack of self-reflection (among other things) is breathtaking. For example:

Quote

Before Hefner, mainstream American culture idolized and idealized women, placed them on pedestals as goddesses, never went beyond presenting them as the precious objects of our dreams

Ahhh yes because this is such a healthy way to view women. And those bits of lingerie totally meant that no man every viewed a pinup girl as a sex object.

Quote

In an instant, that precious gift that comes with the sacramental union between one man and one woman was cheapened into an entitlement and, worst of all, done so through a goddess’s act of self-degradation.

ew ew ew ew

This guy is like a walking madonna/whore complex or something.

But, ya know, we ought to just continue allowing them to incite violence and hold these recruitment events.  Because reasons.

Because this is the only place I've seen this story talked about or reported on all day? And I watch all the Sunday Morning Talking Head shows. Not one mention of this event anywhere. 30 dipshits hold a 10 minute rally in front of a tarped statue, and the world yawned. Did you notice that all the pictures in the article posted were from the August protest?

So yeah, show up and draw in the media and make a national story out of it. That doesn't play into their plans at all.

Yes, Trump really is one sorry ass clown.

The Trump administration is expected to release new regulations Friday relaxing an Obama-era requirement that nearly all employers offer health insurance that covers a wide array of contraceptive methods.

A draft version of these rules, obtained by Vox in May, broadened the types of companies and organizations that can request an exemption from that rule. This could lead to many American women who currently receive no-cost contraception having to pay out of pocket for their medication.

And

Regulations released by the Trump administration on Friday could jeopardize access to a medication that millions of Americans take every day and that saves countless lives every year.

This may not be how many Americans think about birth control, especially in a time when legislators around the country are cutting funding to clinics that provide it. But it’s true: By allowing any employer to request a religious or moral exemption to the birth control coverage mandate established under President Barack Obama, the Trump administration is limiting access to one of the most common forms of life-saving medication available today.

More from the sorry ass orange baboon.

With a repeal bill off the table, the Trump administration has drafted an executive order that could blow a huge hole in the Affordable Care Act, according to a source with direct knowledge of the plan.

The order would, in effect, exempt many association health plans, groups of small businesses that pool together to buy health insurance, from core Obamacare requirements like the coverage of certain essential health benefits. It would potentially allow individuals to join these plans too, which would put individual insurance marketplaces in serious peril by drawing younger and healthier people away from them.

Well I guess it figures that a sorry ass orange baboon would like a sorry ass nitwit who gets just about everything wrong.

At just 35 years old, Warsh had no background in monetary policy or economics at all. He was, instead, a Wall Street lawyer working primarily on mergers and acquisitions who in 2002 had come to Washington to work in the White House on financial regulation. Or, rather, given that this was the Bush administration in the mid-aughts he came to work on financial de-regulation. And he headed to the Fed with, presumably, the same mandate — to cut through the red tape that was overburdening America’s financial system and unleash the forces of financial innovation.

“The U.S. has experienced slow economic growth for far too long,” Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said in a statement. “By streamlining the regulatory system, we can make the U.S. capital markets a true source of economic growth which will harness American ingenuity and allow small businesses to grow.”

It did. But, it wasn't because of Dodd-Frank. It was because the so called "Party of Business" was and still is incompetent and stupid.

See people like Kevin Warsh. He's an idiot of course. But, his thinking was pretty representative of the sorry ass Republican Party over the last 10 years.

So yeah, show up and draw in the media and make a national story out of it. That doesn't play into their plans at all.

It was the top news story on every major news site, it trended on twitter and facebook, it was discussed on multiple news radio station I listen to.  Every article included a photo and at least half included a short video of the Saturday march.  They also mostly included twitter response from richard spencer declaring the march a success because they went in, terrorized, and left all within 10 minutes.  It was called a flash mob and they promise to continue doing this.  Seems like not being noticed until after they left was exactly their plan.

And yet, that doesn't matter, it makes no difference how much coverage they received.  We've had this discussion a million times and most of us already know where you stand on things.  Nazis are in the highest offices here and are supported and given respect by the president.  We should not be supporting further recruitment events or allowing them to continue to terrorize citizens.  Being sympathetic to nazis and fervently arguing for them to be given plenty of power to continue terrorizing citizens is not a free speech issue.

Just pretend I respond to all of your inevitable nazi defense posts after this.

Bob Corker speaks some truths about Trump, he also dismisses the idea of any "good cop/bad cop" routine between Trump and his cabinet

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/08/us/politics/trump-corker.html

I guess it is progress to see a Republcan state the obvious, but Corker was Trump's biggest cheeleader amongst the establishment, he doesn't deserve much credit for finding his spine now that he has no fear of political reprecussion.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Charlottesville City Council has announced the creation of an internal task force to prevent rallies, like the one carried out by torch-wielding white nationalists, from ever happening again.

In response to the rally on Saturday, which was led by alt-right leader Richard Spencer, council has asked the city manager's office to build a task force with a responsibility of creating a plan to prevent future re-occurrences.

In a statement, the city says the task force will continue to develop proactive strategies regarding the law, policing, regulations, communications, intelligence-gathering, and community outreach to vulnerable populations regarding white nationalist events in Charlottesville.

The task force will guide the city government actions through the Office of the City Manager.

On the denial of birth control.  From an actuarial standpoint, isn't pregnancy a significantly riskier option to birth control.  So an insurance company will have to charge more for a plan that that does not cover birth control.  Therefore - and this is purely a $$ analysis, mind you* - any employer who forces that option onto their employees is basically asking that their employees pay more because of the employer's "sincerely held religious beliefs".  Just one more way this move is way fucked up.

I can not see how that doesn't end up in court.

*I have other objections, believe me.  But this is the one I am playing out right now.
