Yes but that doesn't means he couldn't have Cat because of his lowly status.

I don't get this. He couldn't have cat because of his relatively low lord status. Cat was the first daughter of the lord paramount. He was heir to the littlest finger. He would not be allowed to marry Cat or Lysa. Lysa loved him and fucked him twice. Cat did not love him at all. He was drunk the first time he went to bed with lysa and thought it was cat.

Lol at Petyr having the status to marry Catelyn. Maybe now, bit not when he was a teen.

Of course he didn't have the status to marry Catelyn or Lysa but I am saying that his marriage with Lysa proves it wasn't impossible like Dorian Martell's son claimed:

his downfall is his desire for cat which is impossible due to his lowly status

His inability and desire to marry Cat when he had low noble status is not his downfall it is rather a reason for his success.

Littlefinger's rise in rank/power and wealth seems just about impossible to achieve. How he even survived either by not getting his throat slit by some low life he dealt with and screwed over, or a catspaw sent by someone of means that got the shaft by him or some of his "funny bookkeeping" that seems to have been going on as Master of Coin and was unnoticed by Stannis, Renly and Varys. His character seems too improbable to have survived to the time of the first chapter in the first book.

Never the mind the fact that Lysa and her son would have been thrown out the moon door. If it was realistic at all.

As if a bunch of warrior bred lords will listen to the ramblings of a madwoman and her sickly son.

Yeah than do something about it if you can, take that sickly son from her assult Eyerie.

I don't find anything improbable about LF. He is skilled in finances and has a influential friend (Lysa) who helped him gain position as master of Coin.

You actually believe Tywin Lannisyer would be okay with a sheep lord governing the finances of the Westernlands?

Having an influential friend is not enough for someone of such low standing to be given the position of Mater of Coin. It would offend too many lords.

Robert didn't give a shit about that. His buddies wife giving him grief about the shitty council he doesn't ever attend would be enough for Robert to just say yes in order to get her to shut up.

LF is not governing finances of Westerlands lol? Robert needs and likes (likes his ability to get gold) LF. LF is very good at his job and he is landed Lord after all. Small council has two functions to have people that are good at the job (Varys spymaster, LF master of Coin) or to honor nobles (Trystane, Mace Tyrell ...). Varys and Baelish never boss around any nobles, they serve, Varys is lowborn foreigner yet he is good so he is councilor.

 But Varys does not govern.

Master of Coin is a position that governs the finances of Westeros.

Westeros doesn't have centralized government so no he doesn't really. He mostly just runs finances of Kingslanding. Mostly in middle ages nobles were not taxed by their liege lord. Taxes were payed only by cites and sometimes peasants.

Yeah, They all wanted to fight alongside Ned Stark's son, they knew she was unstable and then they watched The Biggest Pimp in Westeros creep into the Eyrie and marry Lysa, thereby making him more powerful than all of them and Sweet Robin has no say so is just way too much plot contrivance for me to swallow. LF is an impossible character.

Humm he can't reveal Sansa without becoming a traitor of Lannister regime which gave him legitimacy as Lord Paramount of Trident. He can hope Aegon takes over and makes Vale join Aegon and let him keep Trident as a reward.

Lannisters are falling and Aegon still hasn't the IT.Lanninsters cant do much if Vale and Riverlands declare for Sansa.

No, he governs the finances of the crown. Since that is really "rent" money owed to Robert from his peasant tenants he allows to live on his land, it's the crown's (Robert's) money. Westeros itself doesn't have money.

Tyrells are the real greatpower, insane manpower, huge food supplies ... They has control over Tommen and Kingslanding. Council before deaths of Pycelle and Kevan:

  • Lord Regent - Ser Kevan Lannister, Protector of the Realm
  • Hand of the King - Lord Mace Tyrell
  • Grand Maester - Pycelle
  • Master of laws and justiciar - Lord Randyll Tarly
  • Master of coin and lord treasurer - Ser Harys Swyft
  • Master of ships and grand admiral - Lord Paxter Redwyne
  • Master of whispers - Qyburn
  • Lord Commander of the Kingsguard - Ser Jaime Lannister
  • Advisor - Nymeria Sand (acting in place of Doran Martell)

Only councilors in KL are Mace, Tarly and Paxter, Qyburn guess who is regent now. Pycelle will be replaced by Tyrell maester. Jamie is not in KL and can be replaced by Loras though unlikely. Nymeria Sand also isn't in KL yet. Tarly and Redwyne are his bannermen.

TWOW spolier

Spoiler

Ser Harys Swyft is in Braavos, can also be replaced once he returns.

Council is almost completely Tyrell.  It should look something like that:

  • Lord Regent - Lord Mace Tyrell, Protector of the Realm
  • Hand of the King - Lord Mace Tyrell
  • Grand Maester - Tyrell Maester
  • Master of laws and justiciar - Lord Randyll Tarly
  • Master of coin and lord treasurer - Ser Harys Swyft/Garth Tyrell
  • Master of ships and grand admiral - Lord Paxter Redwyne
  • Master of whispers: Tyrell loyalist
  • Lord Commander of the Kingsguard - Ser Jaime Lannister/Loras Tyrell
  • Advisor - Nymeria Sand (acting in place of Doran Martell)
