Torrhen Stark and Twins

10 posts in this topic

We see Torrhen Stark coming to the heart of the Riverlands where he bends the knee but how did he crossed the rivers? He can't have crossed the Ruby Ford or else he would have been spotted long before by troops in Harrenhal, Maidenpool and all the others. This means he must have used the Twins but Freys have never failed to exact their toll, how did he pay them? Or did he use some other route?

That's because he didn't cross any rivers, he followed the green fork down to just north of the trident.

No he did have to cross rivers they Inn of the Kneeling Man that was build on the spot where he knelt is only reachable if he crosses all three forks.

Yeah he himself crossed on the day he bent the knee. His army marched from Moat Cailin and camped on the North bank of the Trident. Aegon and his army camped on the south side. Then we have the whole "Will he won't he" with Brandon and the wierwood arrows overnight and in the morning, Torrhen crosses the Trident and kneels.

So his army crossed no rivers to get to where they set up camp. Except for those who had to cross rivers to get to Moat Cailin but they wouldn't have had any issue doing so.

in order to get to the Inn you have to cross al three brances of the trident so if the location of they Inn is correct then Torrhen his army would have camped on the northside of the Red Fork already having crossed the Green and the Blue Fork.

Of course the location off they Inn does not have to be correct but if it is the Northern army had to cross at least 2 rivers.

It is merely said that the inn is located where Torrhen Stark bent the knee, but no-one is entirely sure.

The location is based of the travels of Arya, and of Jaime and Brienne al of whom spent time at the inn during there travels, but even that is merely guesswork of fans so the location could be wrong, but its all we have to go on for now.

No you might well be correct. I made an error in my earlier post and got the Inn of the Kneeling Man and the Inn at the Crossroads got mixed up. So while we aren't told the exact location of the Inn of the Kneeling Man, it is somewhere along the red fork. You're correct then that they would have to cross the Green Fork to get to the Red Fork's north bank. The Blue Fork, not so much you can go around it.

Books had maps showing it's location.

It is on the southern side of Red Fork.
