Mladen
The self-proclaimed more diverse part of the industry is also preparing for the winter award circuit. The summer belongs to Emmys, while the winter is for critics, guilds and foreign press to tell us what we should be watching. There are numerous awards, but for the sake of our well-being, we shall focus on the three most prestigious awards: Critics Choice Awards (Nominations) Golden Globes (Nominations) Screen Actors Guild Awards (Nominations) I will be updating the thread with the news and you are free to complain how in God's name they didn't include your favorite show and yet "Game of Thrones" is there

HexMachina
Hell yes to some of that, so happy to se American Gods up there after missing out on the Emmys. And Tatiana getting her obligatory and well deserved nomination too. Comedy, eh, I have since come to the conclusion I will never be satisfied by the nominees for comedy. Happy to see GLOW up there but fuck Modern Family and BBT. The latter moreso than the former of course. It’s crass that such a heap of shit gets a nomination

WarGalley
I've never paid attention to the critics choice awards so I'm surprised to see an entire section devoted to Reality TV. Anyways, I'm really glad to see Patriot nominated in the best comedy series category. Very underrated show. I thought at least one of the characters (Red from That 70s Show) might be worthy of a best supporting actor award.
Eggegg
I'm not sure why they separate out Limited Series from regular drama. Is there really a difference?

Is there really a difference? IMO, no. Especially since these days, it is more smart move than real category placement. Downton Abbey started as Limited Series, and at the end, it had 6 seasons. Big Little Lies are also expected to have Season 2. So, for some, like American Horror Story, it is more of a "easier fight for awards" than "it's a different category" On 12/7/2017 at 0:58 AM, HelenaExMachina said: Comedy, eh, I have since come to the conclusion I will never be satisfied by the nominees for comedy. Modern Family still has its moments but TBBT has long overstayed its welcome. I am very glad to see that "The Good Fight"'s cast is getting some love, but sad about "The Americans". Matthew Rhys was truly outstanding the last season.

It seems that HFPA was thinking very hard about this one. Some think that the delay in the announcement was caused by their previous decision to award Spacey so they had to come with another name. That said, for Oprah to get CDM award, as big name as she is, is truly unexpected. CMD usually always goes to movie-people like Clooney, Scrosese, Streep or Allen in the past several years. Another explanation is that they tried to get someone notoriously un-Hollywood (speculations included Dame Maggie Smith) and when they failed, they turned to TV's biggest name. That said, Streep changed the entire perspective on the award with her last year's speech. From being seen as just another segment to being a centerpiece. So, I suppose they want to play that card again. And who gives you better platform than Oprah in a year during which we had issues with Trump, violence against women and the old Hollywood torment, racism? HexMachina
I’ll leave it to more capable persons to post the list because I can’t format properly on iPad but GG nominations are out. Only interested in the TV ones really hence why’d im posting here but I thought there was a pretty strong field and a nice mix. Funny to see THT make it after being locked out at the Emmys. Very happy to see Killing Eve nominated. And The Americans, Rhys and Keri get a chance for a further hurrah too. Overjoyed th have Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg hosting. Sandra was the highlight of the Emmys for me
Heartofice
I'd say its noticeable that the tv categories are far stronger than the movies this year, I'm pretty disappointed with all the movie noms actually. I'd hope that Americans will clean up in their final season, they totally deserve to. But Killing Eve blew me away this year, I loved everything about it. Its a real toss up who I preferred in it though, Sandra Oh was great but Jodie Comer's performance is what made the show so watchable for me.
