LongRider
10 minutes ago, DanteGabriel said: I did not notice the shock and outrage you've been fixated on here. I think the liberal outrage here is about Trump's grotesque attitudes about women and the fact that he gets away with what would have sunk any other politician. Yes, yes, yes, this is what it is about. Trump can fuck a million porn stars with consensual sex who cares. It his attitudes and the attitudes of his base and the R MoC's that give him the pass for his extra-marital affairs. I don't really care what Melania thinks, his base certainly doesn't, the R's in the Congress and Senate don't, but gee, let a Democrat do that and all hell breaks loose. John Edwards, Gary Hart, that's all that people remember about them; their affairs during their Prez runs. Trump should be treated the same, but he doesn't get the pearl clutching, OMG HE CHEATED ON HIS WIFE!! bs, that's the issue. edt; just for the record, I don't gaf about Melania, at all. I don't gaf about the parameters of their marriage. I do gaf some people actually respect monogamy and it has meaning to them. If Trump's don't so what, but why does he get to have the double standard when others don't? It's wrong.
DanteGabriel
Anyone else following the Senate vote? I'm not quite desperate enough to go to CNN or watch live, but I am checking out the Politico live blog. https://www.politico.com/live-blog-updates/2018/01/19/government-shutdown-2018-update-latest-news-000019?lo=ap_e1 Quote Republican no votes on the short-term spending bill: Jeff Flake, Lindsey Graham, Mike Lee and Rand Paul. Claire McCaskill, facing a tough re-election contest in November, votes yes.
Dr. Pepper
Yes, I'm watching, also on Politico. Failed vote. It's insane that Republicans control all branches of government and still fail.

DanteGabriel
From the Politico live blog: Quote For some reason, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher is in the Senate chamber. Gotta be delivering a message from Putin, right?

They are arguing that your puritanical bullshit is harmful to other people and maybe you should be less concerned about a consensual affair and a private marriage and more concerned about the lies and cheats that actually harm all of us. I'm not arguing about FB's so called 'puritanical bullshit". WTF, enough.

Yukle
Thank goodness that the Republicans hold all majorities in the legislative, executive and judicial branches of government. Otherwise the government might have come to a complete standstill from politicians failing to put aside their lobbyists' ideologies for the benefit of their people. There might have even been a shutdown!

I assume because Virginia and West Virginia have a disproportionately high level of federal government workers. Republicans in similar positions also seem to have opposed the bill. LongRider
I can't imagine what Schumer's discussion with the worlds greatest deal maker was like.
