KingintheNorth4
Trump has truly made history. This is the first time the government has ever shut down when one party has all of the control.
Fragile Bird
Paul Ryan is having fun quoting Schumer's comments from 2013 about the Republican shutdown. He fails to mention that back then Republicans could rely on the fact any deal with Obama would be carried out, whereas the Democrats cannot rely on the fact that any deal cut with Trump will be carried out. Dr. Pepper
Here's a potential Trump affair that the puritans can get up in arms about: https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2018/01/author-of-fire-and-fury-michael-wolff-suggests-trump-is-having-an-extramarital-affair-now.html Quote During the interview with the host of Real Time, Wolff pretty clearly insinuated that Trump is having an extramarital affair at the White House, although he also emphasized he didn’t have the ultimate proof necessary to include the bombshell in the book. While listening to the book I had wondered if Trump and Hope Hicks were having an affair. After Wolff's comments people are speculating it could be her, Nikki Haley or Kellyanne Conway. As POTUS, obviously any sexual or romantic relationship would be highly problematic as there are some serious consent issues associated with one so powerful having relations with his subordinates. THIS is an affair that would be in the public's interest and not simply part of a private marital concern.
Martell Spy
Trump official says it’s “kind of cool” to be in charge of the government shutdown Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney seems strangely excited about his newly-discovered power. https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2018/1/20/16913284/mulvaney-shutdown-cool Quote While the government shutdown is affecting potentially hundreds of thousands of government workers and countless citizens who rely on government services, there’s one person who seems to be enjoying the current situation: Mick Mulvaney, director of The Office of Management and Budget. “I found out for the first time last night that the person who technically shuts down the government down is me, which is kind of cool,” Mulvaney said in a Friday radio interview with conservative commentator Sean Hannity. Media Matters for America was first to flag Mulvaney’s remarks.
Fragile Bird
I was wondering what that conference was going to be about, but I was kinda taken by surprise that Trump decided to double-down and repeat no further negotiations would be held until the CR was passed. The great negotiator indeed. The deal maker.

The Funniest, Most Poignant Signs From the 2018 Women’s March https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2018/01/the-funniest-most-poignant-signs-from-the-2018-womens-march.html?via=recirc_recent Quote Tens of thousands of people joined forces across the United States—and in several cities around the world—for the second Women’s March on Saturday, in part marking the first anniversary of President Donald Trump’s inauguration. The overarching message of the marches was clear: harness female activism into electoral gains during the midterms. But, as usual with these types of demonstrations, there was plenty of room for creativity, too. Many marchers channeled their anger and frustration toward Trump—and the patriarchy in general—through some clever, insightful, and funny signs. Just remember that no matter how bad things get, there is a way out. Always. Speaking of that piece of shit whispering in Trump's ear, it's about time I saw someone finally address that he is no moderating force on air. I'm not depressed. I'm pissed. It's not a mental health issue that's leading me to that conclusion, it's that the GOP is taking the entire country to hell and half the electorate is screaming for them to drive faster. Martell Spy
Quote Negotiating with this White House is like negotiating with Jell-O,” Schumer said, drawing a comparison to the wobbly gelatin dessert. “It’s next to impossible. Quote Among national-security specialists, Kushner’s difficulty obtaining a permanent security clearance has become a subject of fascination. Was it his early failure to disclose foreign contacts? Or did it have something to do with the investigations into Russian interference in the 2016 elections? As the Administration finished its first year, some clues to Kushner’s security troubles have come into sharper focus, giving a new perspective on his encounters with China. Guest
Dems need to be more forceful on messaging that there weren't even enough Republican votes for the CR to pass the Senate without a filibuster. But thank Christ the Dems finally quit rolling over and showing their bellies.
