How firm is the principle that a woman can't inherit the Iron Throne?

What I disagreed with is a lot of your other claims, that are not really supported by the text.

A lot of them even ignore the books. Sansa is not an adult, Shireen is not the last Baratheon heir, and the Reach has male heirs and Alerie.  Stannis was never Lord of the Stormlands, there are other crippled rulers so our Prince of Winterfell is still there. It's Cersei fangirlism at the finest. And all  that while completely ignoring the question of the thread creator. Nobody even cares about salic succession or how it didn't really matter until some French digged it out to get a claim. And only when it came to kingdom succession, not on a lower level.

Please, @newbieone asked about salic succession. At kingdom level inheritance.

It all comes down to how strong the claimants are.  Even a dwarf can become king if he had enough power to bend the nobles to his will.  A female ruler can do this more easily, especially if they have the right legacy and she is backed by a powerful army.
