US Politics: The Ides of Mueller

It's an excellent idea to fire a deputy FBI director days before retirement and then gloat about it, historically there have been no cases of thwarted no.2 G-men using their extensive knowledge of where certain bodies are buried to get revenge against a sitting US president.

Right, and that recommendation presumably means the OPR and the IG report have detailed just cause for firing McCabe.  This is not new news; Wray made it clear when McCabe's retirement was announced that it was due to the findings of the IG report.

Ok, you could argue Sessions can't possibly make an unbiased decision.  But this arguments implies Sessions is incapable of making any firings, no matter how justified.  I don't think it'd hold up in court.

No, this argument says that when your boss is on a public crusade against an institution for political reasons then appropriates a focus of his wrath, calls his future retirement into question, publicly berates you, then calls upon said wrath-scoured individual to be fired... Your ability to be objective has objectively been compromised.

It should  actually. Sessions and Trump have poisoned the well at this point. It all depends on the specifics of US law but generally you can have the authority to fire someone and might even have reason to fire someone but that doesn't mean you can fire them for any reason. You tell someone "I'm firing you because you are black" and it doesn't matter afaik if they were stealing from the company. You articulated your reason for the termination and it was unlawful. The OPR report doesn't mean it's open season on McCabe.

John Dowd, Donald Trump’s personal attorney said he was speaking on behalf of the president today when he told the Daily Beast:

“I pray that Acting Attorney General Rosenstein will follow the brilliant and courageous example of the FBI Office of Professional Responsibility and Attorney General Jeff Sessions and bring an end to alleged Russia Collusion investigation manufactured by McCabe’s boss James Comey based upon a fraudulent and corrupt Dossier.”

So, they are going for it.

The shameless pigfuckery is amazing. May these people all end up in federal oubliettes.

He's now claiming he was speaking for himself, not the President. But yes, they're going for it. And from McCabe's statement, he's not going to go quietly.

Turns out that's a lie:

I've seen the email exchange between @woodruffbets and John Dowd, Trump's lawyer. She asks him clearly if he's speaking on behalf of the president. He answers—in comic sans font, no less—“Yes as his counsel.”

How long before McCabe writes a book?

One does think soda jerk del naranja becoming a wee bit reckless in his way of firing and then crowing belittling, demeaning, humiliating and insulting taunts in public to those he's fired.  Ya ya ya, he's addicted to this behavior, but like all addictions in the end it bites back hard, real hard.

Very much worth a read.

There's nothing special about Steve Bannon. In fact, he's such a goddamn slob that he blew his shot at consolidating puppetmaster powers for decades to come.
