Dancing With Dragons

Recommended Posts

  1. Quentyn came to dance with dragons.  He brought a signed agreement to the ballroom but it was not enough.  He pushed the boundaries and learned that dragons are dangerous playmates.  This is the kind of dance where you can die if your steps aren't good enough.
  2. Victarion is coming to dance with dragons.  He brings a Dragonbinder to the ball.  Will it be enough to get a dance with a dragon?
  3. Marwyn is coming to dance with dragons.  He brings knowledge to the ball.

It takes three to get it right.  Dragons are not to be taken lightly.   So which of the remaining "suitors" will do well in the ballroom and get a dance with the dragon?

Tyrion and Brown Ben will get one. The little monkey demon has knowledge too, and Brown Ben has a couple of drops of dragonblood. Victarion might get the other one, but I think he will feel the glory that awaits him when he tries. Marwyn will advise Daenerys for sure, but what end?

Okay, too cliche but I think it is pretty obvious Dany and two others; Jon seems unquestioned if you believe R + L = J; the third is either Aegon, if real, or Tyrion... Oka too simplistic, okay...

Brown Benn is too minor a character for this and hey, if we were going to go for blood, why not Varys, say?  Look at his name lol also why was he cut if not for king's blood???

Marwyn is a very wild card.  In the latest books, having forgotten that Mirri Maz Duur trained with him, I was kind of supporting hiim.  However, okay surely if everything from one city or kingdom was bad that is kind of tribalism lol but I am yet to say anything positive coming out of Asshai!

This could well be massive tin-foil but I have a sort of incline that just as Westeros prepares themselves to fight the Others, the Essos faction is going to strike.  I think Thoros is okay, for instance, but Mel, Mirri etc (and the likes of her, as she is dead now) and Quaithe lol, especially Quaithe are going to strike for their own reasons.  Not necessarily bad reasons... still the Iron Born lol... I have this idea that their idea of burring their death in the sea prevents the Northern Others from turning them.  Now, Euron is going for god or nothing! and I think he is likely to achieve a little something in that regard!  I personally don't feel he will get a dragon but he surely will cause mayhem.

Him getting a dragon, no, but hey, never say never!

None of those three will get a dragon. Quaithe warned Dany about Euron, so most likely she will either kill or imprison him, and this journey to Meereen won't be benefitial for him. And Quaithe warned Dany about Tyrion, so he also won't be getting near her babies.

Rhaegel's dragonrider will be Rhaego, whith whom Dany will reunite in Vaes Dothrak. The baby's kidnapping was first out of three treasons - one for blood. Drogo's Ko kidnapped his baby, to protect it from Dany, whom they blamed for what happened with their Khal. So Dany will burn all of them (khals), and that will be the second fire, that she must light - the one for death.

Viseryon's dragonrider will be Jon Snow. Viserys thought that he was the last dragon, and Dany thought that he was her last relative. While actually both of those things is Jon Snow - Dany's nephew, and the last male Targaryen (because Dany's son is not Targaryen, he is Rhaego son of Drogo, not Rhaego Targaryen). So Jon is the last dragon. And he will become third head of the dragon, and third dragonrider.

These three are no likely to bond with Dany's dragons.  But Marwyn is almost sure to get accepted in Dany's service.

:agree:He's the only person, that was intending to go to Dany, about whom Quaithe didn't warned her.

If Brown Ben Plumm gets a dragon, it will because he stole it, not because he's thrown in with Daenerys. Think of it! A sellsword company with its own air support! They can charge anything they want! Probably they won't go up against Team Daenerys until Ben has had a chance to use his dragon(s) in some battles, get some experience to add to his extensive on the ground battle knowledge. Then Dany and Drogon are toast, along with the rest of her troops.

Rhaego? Thought Rhaego was a dead lizard.

When I think of a Dance with Dragons, I think of This.

There's no proof of that. Only Mirri's words. And what she said, about what happened with the baby's body, doesn't make any sense. That was a lie, with a purpose to trick people, with superstitious and primitive minds, such as Dany. It's surprising how many readers also believed in that tall tale.

Even so, unless he’s magically aged up, he won’t be riding a dragon.

If Brown Ben gets a dragon it will be due to Tyrion's coaching. And so long as Brown Ben supports Tyrion he has a lordship and a whole lot of gold waiting for him in Westeros. Of course Tyrion might come to rue all of the notes he wrote.

Dance in the sense that they will get a dragon?  None of them.  They all have or had the potential to be a Dany ally.

There has been no evidence or even a hint to suggest that Rhaego survived. At a very large stretch, the whole Aegon swap might be a precursor. But Rhaego being kidnapped and surviving does not work with Dany's story about being the last dragon (if R+L=J is true then adding another surprise Targaryen AFTER the supposed reveal of Aegon is way too much), nor do any of the prophecies/visions about Dany imply this.

In a world where magic, dragons, ice zombies, warging, etc exist, it's quite plausible that a blood magic ritual (not to mention any possible medical conditions Dany might have) could have resulted in the baby being born deformed. If this was the case, it's very likely that Dothraki who very much hate blood magic and have learnt about Dany's Targ/dragon heritage would see the deformed baby and transfer the dragon imagery to it.

There were evidences that Rhaego was born alive, and that he will live to adulthood.

Young Griff is a Blackfyre pretender. He's a mummer's dragon, and mummer is Varys. fAegon is one of lies that Dany will slay. Not kill, just unmask (or maybe unmask and kill too). The other lie to slay is that Stannis is Azor Ahai, and third is that Jon Snow is a bastard of Ned Stark, while actually he is a Targaryen prince. He's that winged stone beast from the smoking tower, breathing shadow flame. He will be Azor Ahai, reborn amidst salt and smoke, at The Wall, and he's also a dragon, that will be awoken from stone by Melisandre, the last out of three dragon heads. Dany is first dragon, Rhaego is second, and Jon is third. In that order. Same as order in which dragon eggs became alive, and also order in which they were placed on Drogo's funeral pyre.

Dany is not the last dragon. She needs two more Targaryens alongside her, to fulfill the prophecy. Also Dany will be reunited with Rhaego, before she will go to Westeros. So first she will find out that her son is alive, she will meet him in Vaes Dothrak. Then they will go to Meereen with all Dothraki. And then they will sail to Westeros. That will be a few years after 300 AC. If it takes one year for a small ship, to sail from Pentos to Asshai, then probably it will take a few years for Dany's armies, to sail from Meereen to Westeros. Then Dany will meet with fAegon, her dragons will feel that he's a fake. She will burn him. And then she will meet Jon. And he will become third dragonrider.

fAegon could become a third dragonrider, alongside Jon and Dany, but it doesn't make any sense. Because he's the mummer's dragon, and also Quaithe warned Dany not to trust him. So it's unlikely that she will give one of her dragons to him. Also names of Dany's dragons are a hint to who will be their riders. Rhaegel - Rhaego, Viseryon - Jon (or rather I think that this dragon is a female, so she should be called Visenya. She made for herself a nest inside pyramid). Second egg, green, Rhaegel's, was placed on Drogo's funeral pyre, near his head, and Dany coiled his braid around it. Long hair is a symbol of fertility and children, and long braids of Dothraki is a symbol of their invincibility. So Rhaegel's rider will be Drogo's and Dany's son, and undefeated Khal, khal of khals that will unite all Dothraki in one khalasar, and all people of the world will be his herd (that's what the prophecy said, about the Stallion that will mount the world).

And about Viseryon, Dany's brother Viserys thought, that he's the last dragon, last male Targaryen. But that's Jon. Dany is a female, and Rhaego is not a Targaryen, he is Rhaego son of Drogo, not Rhaego Targaryen. Also in the House of the Undying, Rhaegar said, that there should be one more. And later, when Dany was retelling this to Jorah, she said, that there was no Visenya. Rhaegar's children were Rhaenys (Rhaegel probably also is a female dragon. Probably Drogon is bigger, than the other two dragons, because he's the only male amongst them) and Aegon. But that Aegon was not the promised Prince, Rhaegar's next child is the right one. King Aerys had three children - Rhaegar, Viserys, and Dany. And Rhaegar also had three - Rhaenys, Aegon, and Aegon/Jon. In both cased the third child, is one of three dragon heads from the prophecy. Also Viseryon's egg was placed on funeral pyre, between Drogo's legs, which is a hint that this dragon's rider will be Dany's lover. Jon is the third mount that Dany will ride, the one to love. Her third husband after Drogo (the one to bed), and Hizdahr (the one to dread).

My theory is based entirely, on what was written in the books. Other people don't get it, but it doesn't mean that I'm wrong. My theory connects all pieces into one completed picture. So it's very unlikely that I'm wrong, because there's evidences all over, in all previous books, that support my theory.

Doesn't mean that you're right, either. And most people can say that their theory is based on evidence from the books. For example, I'd argue the 3rd lie for Dany to slay is somehow associated with Jon Connington, the Golden Company, and the Blackfyres... Connington's sigil is a Griffin, a beast that can take wing. JonCon has greyscale, so that makes him a great stone beast that can take wing. Blackfyre association is "shadowfire". Fits much more neatly with JonCon than it does with Jon Snow.

Also, if Rhaego is one of the heads of the dragon... Where is he? When will he make his reappearance in the story? Where has he been for the last 4 books? Who smuggled him away and why and how? Why did none of Dany's handmaids tell her that her child survived? Where's the hint or clue that things happened differently to how we were told with Rhaego? How old is Rhaego going to be for the climax of the story? 4 years old maybe? Not even that? And it's not going to take Dany several years to sail to Westeros... the Iron Fleet went from the West of Westeros to Slaver's Bay in a few months... So he won't be growing any on the journey.

For that vision, to be about Jon Con, the timing is wrong. That vision is from distant past, in time of Robert's Rebellion. In trinity of visions, first is about recent past, second is about future, and third is about events that happened near the end of Robert's Rebellion.

1.1. Viserys screamed as the molten gold ran down his cheeks and filled his mouth.

1.2. A tall lord with copper skin and silver-gold hair stood beneath the banner of a fiery stallion, a burning city behind him.

1.3. Rubies flew like drops of blood from the chest of a dying prince, and he sank to his knees in the water and with his last breath murmured a woman’s name. . . . mother of dragons, daughter of death . . .

2.1. Glowing like sunset, a red sword was raised in the hand of a blue-eyed king who cast no shadow.

2.2. A cloth dragon swayed on poles amidst a cheering crowd.

2.3. From a smoking tower, a great stone beast took wing, breathing shadow fire. . . . mother of dragons, slayer of lies . . .

3.1. Her silver was trotting through the grass, to a darkling stream beneath a sea of stars.

3.2. A corpse stood at the prow of a ship, eyes bright in his dead face, grey lips smiling sadly.

3.3. A blue flower grew from a chink in a wall of ice, and filled the air with sweetness. . . . mother of dragons, bride of fire . . .

1.1. Death of Viserys, 2.1. Stannis - fake Azor Ahai with fake Lightbringer, 3.1. Wedding with Drogo - all three recent past, prior Dany came to the House of the Undying.

1.2. Grown up Rhaego, 2.2. Mummer's dragon - fake Aegon, 3.2. Corpse on a ship.

1.2. - Far far future. 2.2. Dany's future, when she will arrive to Westeros, a few years from now. 3.2. This will happen soon. @Lost Melnibonean has a theory that this vision is about Daario.

Now third visions:

1.3. Rhaegar's death, 2.3. Winged stone beast, smoking tower, shadow flame, 3.3. Blue winter rose - little Jon growing up in Winterfell.

First is about Rhaegar, third is about Rhaega's son living in Winterfell. So why would second be about Jon Con, fAegon, and Blackfyres? Would be more logical, and in balance with other visions of the past, if this second vision is also connected to what caused Rhaega's death - Jon's birth at the Tower of Joy.

Ned broke that tower, and out of its stones made eight tombs, for people that died there. Could be that he burned the tower, prior dismantling it. And Jon could be winged stone beast, breathing shadow flame, because he is a secret Targaryen (shadow flame); winged stone beast - chimera, half-direwolf/Stark and half-dragon/Targaryen; stone beast because he is binded by lie of his origin. Could be that Melisandre will somehow uncover his secret, and thus she will wake up the dragon from the stone, Jon will find out who he really is - the last dragon.

Dany will already find out that fAegon is a lie, so there's no need to separately slay lies about Jon Con and Golden Company. All of that is in the mummer's dragon vision. Golden Company and Jon Con, are people beside fAegon, they are part of that cheering crowd around him.

Look at the bigger picture (on the whole story of ASOIAF, not only on this set of prophecies), all pieces has to connect with each other. Other options are also possible, but they don't connect with other pieces of the puzzle, as good as my theory.

So let's wait for the book, and then we'll see.

I disagree... They're not grouped by time, but by theme.

1) Viserys dying. 2) Rhaego, and by extension Drogo, who are both dead. 3) Rhaegar dying. Daughter of Death... These are the 3 deaths that have shaped Dany and her current position.

1) Stannis. 2) Mummer's Dragon/fAegon. 3) JonCon and the Blackfyre folks. Slayer of Lies... 3 groups/individuals who will deny Dany her rightful Throne, or are impostors for Dany's role as Azor Ahai or whatever, that Dany will have to deal with.

1) Her silver, bride gift from Drogo, representing him. 2) The corpse on a ship (Victarion? I'm still not certain who this is). 3) Jon, currently at the Wall, symbolised by the description of the Wall. Bride of Fire... These are Dany's 3 great loves, or 3 men she will have significant relationships with, and possibly marry.
