Jon Fossoway
Where does this 'Ice and fire' is someone else than George's telling, anyways.
LynnS
I'm guessing that the OP means that Sam will survive to chronicle the events and history that make up the Song of Ice and Fire; but I don't think Sam will survive. I think it more likely that Tyrion would write that song given his interest in history although it's only Rhaegar who calls it the Song of Ice and Fire. Shouldve Taken The Black
Are you super sure, cuz there’s lots of people on this forum that think they know the story better than George and they love to enlighten us with their fanfic on a weekly basis. Samwell is actually one of the trolls who comes on here re-writing the entire book to make the Starks look evil. He and Jon apparently had a major falling out at some point. And it would be quite strange for the author of a series (even if he somehow knew all the facts - through an omniscient being, perhaps) to only insert himself as a POV starting from the fourth volume. Either tell his own perspective of facts from the start or not at all. True. And Sam is not guaranteed to survive.

Light a wight tonight
The author(s) of A Song of Ice and Fire were Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, who penned many other hits. It is known.

Your rooting and opinions are irrelevant to what the author writes and how the story is progressing. That is a good thing

I don't expect a field day, like what happened on 12/23/2012 on the above top secret forum, but it would be nice if some of the most absurd theories are pulled up, raked over the coals and made fun of for some good lulz, but it I doubt it will happen. It would be impossible for someone to chronicle and author these events because they are told from the point of views of many characters. Samwell will have no way knowing what Eddard Stark was thinking during Ned's time in King's Landing. He would have no way of knowing what Ned said in his private conversation with Cersei. Samwell is GRRM .And this is Known .

Well, I kind of get it, tbh. Because it can be so subjective,,, what is insulting to one isn't to another etc. Funny thing is, I have no recollection of this! JaneSnow
If any one of the characters actually wrote the books it would be Varys.
Here's Looking At You, Kid
A switch in the method of telling the story can solve some of the issues involved. The last book may no longer be told from the points of views of the characters but instead we have a narrator. But still, it is hard to get around how the writer would know what goes on the minds of people they never met.
