Bellis Posted March 7, 2008 Share Posted March 7, 2008 Yeah, but if you want a map of Book of the New Sun you just go look at an atlas of South America and then 'just' run it a few millions of years into the future Yeah, but my point was that knowing the above in advance (either as a spoiler like you just did or by having a map in the front) would imo decrease the enjoyment of orienteering oneself in Severian's world. What I enjoy about a science fantasy like BoTNS is the initial disorientation of not knowing whether you're in a fictional or sci-fi universe, and where, and when (including the default northern hemisphere-centrism).
