Official Casting: The Lannisters

Sadly, due to age and size factors, I don't think it would be likely and/or believable (unless heavily made-up, and shrunk a la the hobbits in LotR), but whenever I think of Tyrion, I think of Al Swearengen for some reason.

Depending, he might not be a bad Tywin, either :)

Count me in on the bandwagon for Peter Dinklage - I mean c'mon he's done fantasy, he's won critical acclaim for not only The Station Agent, also for Richard III. The ONLY choice for Tyrion

Put Yvonne Strahovski in an evening gown and she's more or less exactly how I picture Cersei. Sadly, she's a bit on the young side and obviously occupied filming Chuck.

Come to think of it... make Matthew Bomer (the guy in the picture) a blond and you've got a reasonable Jaime.

Also whatever they have to pay Peter Dinklage to get him on board is well worth it. He's fairly successful, but certainly not A list. He's easily the best small statured actor I've ever seen.

Peter Dinklage as Tyrion is an obvious choice. I'm sure we don't need another link!

Tywin- Charles Dance or Christopher Eccleston are excellent choices but may I suggest Harry Groener,
he played the mayor in season 3 of Buffy and also King Arthur in a Broadway run of 'Spamalot'.

Jaimie- Kevin Mckidd.

Kevan Lannister- William Hurt.

I thought so too, when I first saw him as Octavian in Rome. However, he may be a bit too old now, so I'll suggest Thomas Sangster

The pictures on the IMDB page are a bit out of date, here is something more recent. Unfortunately, he's playing the title role in the new Tintin movie, so probably unavailable.

Tim Pigott-Smith as Tywin. Watch him in "The Four Feathers" and you may see what it is that I see in him.

I like the Charles Dance suggestion too. If not Tywin, they must find a place for him somewhere in this series. He's a terrific actor.

I was also going to nominate Jason McKidd for Jaime. He has the emotional depth, but he may lack the swagger we need for Jaime.

Ray Stevenson is also my pick for Hound. He has the physical presence for it. I did think of Benecio del Torro for Hound, too, but he is probably going to cost too much.

But if we can get del Torro for hound, Stevenson can be Gregor Clegane. That scene in Rome where he fought the entire gladiator team could translate very well to the Gregor has with Oberon.

And if not Gregor, then maybe Bronn the sellsword?
Here's the popular and do-able choices for the Lannisters:

Tricia Helfer as Cersei:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1065454/
Battlestar Galactica is wrapping up, so she'll probably be available.

Jason Lewis as Jaime:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0507314/
Seems to fit his description perfectly.

And of course, Peter Dinklage as Tyrion:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0227759/
Need I say more?

As for Tywin, the popular choice seems to be Ed Harris, but I'm going to suggest Corbin Bernsen.

Holy crap, dude. I think you got the family nailed. Nice.

I'm assuming you mean Kevin McKidd, Vorenus from Rome. That seems an odd choice to me. Jaime's a pretty boy and quick with a witty comeback, nothing like Vorenus. Both seem tortured, though.

I'll go with Taylor Kitsch as Jaime, or maybe Loras. Been watching him on Friday Night Lights (great show, btw), and I think he has the same, tortured inner-self thing down pat.

Sarah Palin for Cersei.

Tyrion - Peter Dinklage

Jaime - Jesse Spenser
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0817980/

Tywin - I hadnt heard of Charles Dance but he gets my vote for Tywin.

Cersei - Tricia Helfer could work but I also like Kari Matchett:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0558182/

Lancel - Michael Mitchell

I LOVE the suggestion of Tricia Helfer for Cersei. Can we just hire the whole cast of BSG and throw them in the best fitting roles?

You know who I could see as Tywin (if he'd shave off that gorgeous hair and grow a beard): Ray Wise. He's charming and cunning, yet completely evil.

Monet Mazur as Cersei?

IMDB says she's in a pilot for another show, but if it fails, or she can be lured away with a bigger part, maybe..?

Yet another vote for Peter Dinklage as Tyrion.

And ditto Charles Dance as Tywin; he was chilling in Bleak House. One of the coldest stares I've ever seen on screen.

I can't speak on Cersei/Jaime - they're supposed to be a 'matched set'. It will be tricky casting them well.

I don't know if he can act, or even wants to, but the producers should definitely look into Halle Berry's boyfriend Gabriel Aubry. No one matches Jaime's description better. If Jason Lewis and Josh Holloway are thespians, why not this guy.

I'd say Alexander Skarsgard as Jaime Lannister. He's also been in the HBO series, Generation Kill and True Blood.

I also like the Joffrey suggestions of Max Pirkis if he hasn't aged too much (1st choice) or Tom Felton.
