Yagathai Posted February 6, 2009 Share Posted February 6, 2009 To a degree, this thread is going to be about racial fetishes in general, but being Asian I've always felt really uncomfortable about white guys that have a "thing" for Asian women -- especially the small, delicate, love-you-long-time looking ones. After all, everyone knows that there are only kinds of Asian women, the china doll and the dragon lady. I always felt that white dudes with yellow fever must have small man-parts and felt that the size of Asian women would make their pitiful downstairs bits seem relatively larger, but a friend pointed out that it might actually be because they were just in general insecure about their masculinity, which may not (though probably does) include fears about their teeny-weeny. I've dated women of many different races, and it's true that most of them have been white. I suspect, however, that that's a function of my surroundings more than a fetish for the other other other white meat. I dated more Hispanic women when I lived in Phoenix than I have lately, living in Philly. Anyway, North American-born Asian guys dating white chicks is not so common that there's a cultural construct surrounding the phenomenon. Most of the white guys with a thing for Asian women that I have ever known lived in large urban areas with large minority populations. And they just liked Asian chicks better than Latina girls or black girls (who they thought hated them, anyway) or whatever. Nevertheless, can't help thinking that it's a little bit creepy. And comments were made about Asian girls being of a better disposition and not demanding, although they were jokes, if I remember correctly. Other than thinking it's a little bit creepy for no substantiated reason, none of these thoughts are mine, and are merely what I have heard other people say. So please don't be offended at me. I personally have a bias against liking any particular race when it comes to dating and all that, but people have made good cases that I'm being unfair about that too. I have no opinion. And really I think you're just baiting everyone and intentionally picked a topic that you thought would lead to a train wreck the quickest. I've encountered quite a few of those dudes. Thing is, these guys usually aren't the domineering/control freak types....I think their Asian obsession stems from some sort of anime and porn fueled geekgasm towards all things Asian (Read: Japanese) in general. ETA: Of course, not every white guy that likes Asian women falls into this category. Hopefully the vast majority of them just like the person. All that aside, some asian women are beautiful, but no more or less commonly than women of all races, in my opinion nobody has the monoply on beauty. A question that intrigues me is, "Is it okay to be (or not be) attracted to someone because of their race?" We all view potential partners and weed them out with endless physical criteria "He/she is too tall, he/she is too stupid, fat, on and on... It was highly unfunny, offensive, and just freaking stupid, IMO, but they nevertheless, f*ing morons that they are, regarded those comments as jokes such that I do not think it was a sincere representations of their feelings about Asian women. I didn't say I consider them to be good people. And in context of all things men say about women when there aren't many women around....a lot of guys are stupid dicks. I just don't think they were [i]actually[/i] dating Asian women because they genuinely thought they were more submissive. In fact, I remember this one guy's girlfriend, and she was [i]not[/i] submissive. So he was probably even being ironic. At any rate, that's all I meant. You have no idea WHY those two particular people have become a couple, you are just stereotyping.... with a paternlistic putdown attitude about White men going after "your" women . As long as I am single, I'll date who I damn well please without regards to color or ethnicity. But since I'm a Black man, anytime I have a White GF, I am accused of having "Jungle Fever".
