Cast the movie(s)

It would be a cast of mainly unknowns with only 2 or 3 stars involved. Costs for more that that would kill the whole project.

The stars would most likely be Cersei, Jon, and Jamie.

Even though I'm not a fan of the recent Pirates trilogy I still love Mr. Depp(Edmure?) and he would be an excellent actor to play in the series. Also add in there Sean Connery(the Blackfish) and maybe a little bit of John Lithgow(Littlefinger) for a small bit. Other than those 3 I don't have any favorites.

I'm actually changing my vote from the equally stunning Romola Garai who's a little to sweet and cute. Cersei is many things, but not cute. We need someone who can project that Lannister arrogance and smug boredom with a hint of a malicious streak lurking beneath that regal facade.

Have you seen Daniel Deronda?! Gwendolen Harleth could give Cersei a run for her money any day! IMO Romola is one of the best young British actresses around (I can't wait to see her act Keira Knightley off the screen in Atonement) but sadly, at only 25, she's probably a few years too young to be Cersei. :( If this takes a few years to make it to the screen though, she'd be utterly perfect!

But anyway ... Brad Pitt? Christian Bale? Naomi Watts? Angelina Jolie? Johnny Depp? These are all huge movie stars! They are not going to do a TV series! Sorry, but it's just not going to happen.

I posted this in one of the other casting threads but I'll re-post it here. I think the character who should be played by the most famous actor should be Ned - he's arguably the hero of the first book and if he's played by someone the audience know, it will be that much more shocking when he gets beheaded with two episodes to go. My choice would be Jack Davenport:

He's by no means a huge star but he is a recognisable name and having been in the Pirates movies most of the world will know his face. And he actually still does TV!

I'd also love to see Rupert Penry-Jones as Jaime:

He's got the right mix of masculinity and beauty that Jaime needs and he's a great actor.

Didn't he play in the show "couplings" on BBC?

I saw 28 Weeks Later over the weekend. Like 28 Days Later, I thought the story was only so-so, but this time around, I found the acting particularly superb. So much so, that it gave me some casting ideas:

For Dany: Imogen Poots. Beautiful, talented, and young enough to pull it off. What more could we ask for?

For Ned: Robert Carlyle. This guy has serious acting chops.

For Caitlyn: Catherine McCormack. Older now, but still quite attractive.

And may I make yet another plea for Max Pirkis as Robb, and Peter Dinklage as Tyrion?

Most likely the cast will be made up of cheap no name up and coming actors/actresses, a slew of child actors..I think on the terms of Harry Potter...they made a good story/acting with no real mainstream actors.

But this is a wishlist...they'd never get her, but i would have-

Angelina Jolie as Cersei

Her Brother, James as the KIngslayer

They've both been blondes before, he's not afraid of kissing her in public now, ripping her bodice off might be different.

She's not real popular right now, so shes a perfect High class, Great looking, Stuck up, Bitch./(add here) (starts with W)

He has the kingslayer smile, also arrogant, goodlooking and id love to see him go thru the kingslayer character change...and kill his sister. :D

Couple pics..maybe youll see it....

EDIT: YEA Cersei

I think Angelina Jolie would make a good Melisandre. All she would have to do is dye her hair red.

However, I don't agree with your choice for Jaime Lannister. Angelina's brother is nowhere near as handsome as Jaime should be. When I think of how Jaime looks appearance wise, I think of David Beckham. Ofcourse, David Beckham is not an actor, but it would be good to get someone who looks like him, even if they are unknown. David Beckham even has green eyes like Jaime does:

We are just making lists of actors that we think would be good for the series, not actors that stand a good chance of being on it. Most of us know that it's unrealistic to expect any major actor to star in the series, (except for maybe Johnny Depp).

Johny Depp has been known to play in low budget films and even shows if he likes the role and thinks it will be a good part. Other than the "pirates" series he typically hasn't cared too much about fame or money.

And I think you're right, he would make a good littlefinger. Lithgow would probably play a good Tywin.

From when this was posted before, my favorite was Sean Connery as Ser Barristan.

A couple of my own ideas:

Hodor - George Muresan (7' 6" basketball player who was in "My Giant")

Samwell - The fat kid that played Indiana Jones' boyscout friend in the flashback scene at the start of "The Last Crusade"

Arianne Martell - Alyssa Milano

Strong Belwas - Shaquile O'Neil

By the way:

Patrick Stewart as Stannis and John Goodman as Robert are perfect.

Al Roker should be Strong Belwas (hee hee)

I had picked John Goodman for Robert I...but I think Brian Blessed would be better...remember Flash Gordon anyone?

A televised ASOIAF should have a little known cast i think. Having said that i think Nicole Kidman would be the perfect Cersei, only i can't quite see her with a shaved head and one arm???

Umm, Nicole Kidman is past Cersei's age (though not by much...). The woman is old enough to have had her face stretched back to hide the wrinkles, so yeah, she doesn't look as beautiful as she did ten years ago... but she's a better choice than some of these others...

The only thing I can think of when I read some of these actors, is that they are WAY too old to play some of these characters. I visited the site that has casted most of the characters: many are spot on (Jack Davenport and Kate Winslet as Ned and Catelyn, Tricia Helfer and Jason Lewis as Cersei and Jaime... brilliant!), some are terrible (Kirstie Alley as Lysa Arryn? Lysa is in her thirties; Alley is nearly 60... puh-lease. And who picked Mary McDonnell to be Lady Tanda? Tanda's an old woman!)

Anyhow, Jack Davenport and Kate Winslet are excellent choices for Ned and Catelyn, though Romola Garai would be a fantastic Catelyn if she were ten years older...)

David Dorfman, who played creepy little Aidan in The Ring, is 14 now and, to me, is the perfect Jojen Reed. As I was reading the books, I kept hearing his voice as Jojen. He definitely is NOT a good candidate for Sweetrobin, as the casting site has him listed...

Hey, long time lurker and first time poster here.

I was watching the Season 3 DVD's of Lost over the last weeks and there is one actress, Elizabeth Mitchell , in particular, that would make a very convincing Cersei.

Ok, her eyes are blue and not green, but they have contacts for that sort of thing.

She has the looks, but more importantly she has talent.

And there is also Terry O'Quinn ,who would make a superb Tywin.
