[BOOK SPOILERS] A Miscellany of Ice and Fire

Really? On the Wire DVDs, they didn't include the Previously On with the episode, but I seem to remember they had them elsewhere on the DVD as separate features. Maybe they are optional.

They are definitely on the DVD for The Wire as separate choices (it happens to be in the DVD player right this minute). On the screen for each episode are four options: PREVIOUSLY ON, NEXT ON, SCENE SELECTION and PLAY EPISODE. The first catches you up, the second sneak previews, the third is for jumping to a specific spot and the fourth starts from the beginning (or where you left off if you jump to it from mid-episode).

Deadwood is the same with the previously on. And I think maybe Rome as well, but less sure of that. But definitely Deadwood.

I would expect the show will have them.

Is there a way to tell HBO which shows you watch/are interested in? I added HBO today, so I assume they'll deduce that I subscribed because of GoT, but I was wondering if there are better ways of giving them feedback.

BTW, it seems like most of the cable companies in the US are currently offering deals on HBO with GoT featured in the artwork.

This is random, but how many of the Kingsgaurd have been casted? Obviously Barristand Semly and Jaime Lannister, but what about the others? Are they just gonna be wearing their helms the entire time (to avoid having to actually cast real actors), or are they gonna introduce us to some of the more important ones in later books, like Arys Oakheart?

http://viewers-guide.hbo.com/game-of-thrones/#!/guide/houses/baratheon/lancel-lannister/ wow beautiful.

It is much more handsome than Jaime Lannister. There is nothing like his cousin.

please! I hope a sex scene!

More handsome? From the headshot Lancel IMO looks like a girl - or a young boy with waaaay too much makeup. The "emo" hair does him no favors either. :P I hope it is a bad shot unrepresentative of the actual character.

hehehe. What do you say? It is very Cute and sexy. See it in action :smileysex: must be a delight. Also, not everyone who has long hair is synonymous with EMO.

I love Eugene Simone

Meryn Trant is also cast. The rest of extras, who almost always wear their helmets, although there's one quite clearly shown without his helmet in episode 2.

If the show gets to season 2, I'm looking forward to seeing who they cast as Ser Boros Blount. Must be sufficiently toad-like. Also, Ser Preston Greenfield is needed for the riot scene (sadly for him) and Ser Mandon Moore is needed for Tyrion. I don't remember Ser Arys Oakheart having a big role in ACOK, besides escorting Sansa somewhere or the other.

I suspect we won't have a Blount, and that Moore's role in ACoK will be given to Trant.

Interesting consolidation. And it's not really necessary to cast Ser Arys Oakheart for ACoK, I suppose. He could be named but not particularly identified when he accompanies Myrcella to Dorne. It's more than a bit of a wait to get to his storyline.

IIRC Trant is still alive at the end of FFC, although granted he hasn't done anything important that would be affected by killing him off in place of Moore. Still, if George has plans for his future, this may not be possible (and they do need to kill whoever they use to attack Tyrion, so there's a space for Loras).

I've a feeling there's nothing really specific planned for Trant, except possibly having Arya dealing with him because of Syrio. But I suspect that to save on casting an extra role, it really will just be Trant, and they'll have Mandon Moore/Boros Blount/whoever later on, as needed. Truth be told, I imagine it's likelier we'll see Balon Swann cast in S2 sooner than Moore or Blount.

They don't really need to cast someone for Greenfield, they can just show some Kingsgaurd man die in the riot and name him later.

There's a pretty big risk in casting Oakheart, now that I think about it. His only real role is to escort Myrcella to Dorne, which sets up his actions in A Feast for Crows. So, if they were to cast him for the second season, depending on if A Storm of Swords is going to be split into two seasons or not, they won't need him back until season 5. But then again, they're already running that risk with Aimee Richardson as Myrcella, but that's kinda necessary.

As far as combining members of the Kingsgaurd, I think that's really likely.

So fun fact for this miscellaneous thread...

For reasons unbeknownst to me, despite living on the extreme east coast (can't get much more east coast then DC, well maybe 30 or 40 miles but that's it) I only have HBO West at my new place, which means I've got to wait an extra 3 hours to watch the show and will have to stay up until 1am each Sunday to watch (no fancy DVR for this fellow). So, good-bye productive Mondays.
