Hey everyone, we already have a thread for TitanCon in the Brotherhood Without Banners section of the forum but we wanted this to be a bit more visible to the thousands of Game of Thrones fans who are dropping by the website because you guys are not likely to find it there.

For those that don't know everyone who posts on this board can consider themselves a member of the Brotherhood Without Banners GRRM fan group and we have been huge supporters of the TV show from the beginning. Many of us were in Belfast back in 2009 for the pilot shoot and again last year during the season 1 shoot and we got to meet and hang out with a whole bunch of Game of Thrones cast members. Details about all that are available on our website. So this year we are stepping up our game and putting on a fan convention for Game of Thrones with discussion panels, book signings and events and we will have many many cast members at TitanCon as our guests. Anyone who is a fan and can get there definitely needs to be there. Honestly it is going to be a great time. Here are some more details for you:

Coming to Belfast Northern Ireland on Saturday 24 September 2011

TitanCon

TitanCon - A science fiction and fantasy literature, media and gaming convention for Belfast Northern Ireland including panels on HBO and George RR Martin's Game of Thrones, organised and run by GRRM fangroup the Brotherhood Without Banners, Studio NI, Northern Ireland's largest arts and culture group, The Other Ones a Belfast science fiction and fantasy society, with gaming events run by Arkham Gaming Centre and TableTopNorth.

Our Guest of Honour is Ian McDonald, author of The Dervish House, winner of Best Novel at the British Science Fiction Awards and nominated for Best Novel at the Hugos and Locus Awards this year.

Game of Thrones guests

We can categorically and definitely state that there WILL be cast and crew members from Game of Thrones as guests at TitanCon 2011. We have two cast members confirmed in Miltos Yerolemou (Syrio Forel) and Kristian Nairn (Hodor). We have spoken with a whole bunch of cast members over the last month or two since the second season was confirmed by HBO and everyone is excited about the possibility of being at TitanCon, meeting the fans and discussing the show.

We have close to a dozen more guests that have said already yes in principle but we can't announce who just yet because we are waiting on the production team to finalise the Season Two filming schedule for 2011. Once that happens we can confirm who will be in Belfast and available on 24 September to come down and join us. We are working as hard as we can to get confirmation of who our guests will be and as soon as we know we will announce it everywhere as loudly as we can!

Film making workshops

Anyone with an interest in film making would be a fool to miss our TitanCon film making workshops including 99 Minute Film School presented by the founder of Raindance Film Festival Elliot Grove. We've got more workshops to be announced very soon.

Full membership to TitanCon is only £10!

Full details and membership available via our website www.titancon.com

Award winning novelist Ian McDonald reads excerpts from his Hugo-nominated novel The Dervish House. Ian will also be joined by fellow TitanCon author guests Peadar Ó Guilín and T.A. Moore who will be reading excerpts from their novels.

The venue for this event is McHughs Bar, we've hired the basement bar for the evening. This is the same veue where the BWB held Belfast Moot 1 in 2009. This event is also a celebration of Studio NI's 7th anniversary so we'll be partying quite late (though those of us getting up at 6 am to start work on TitanCon might be bowing out early).

Friday 25 September - special event for Game of Thrones fans

There's a typo in the day here.

No Sean Bean? :(

I think there's about as much chance of getting a real live dragon appearing at the con as there is of persuading Sean Bean to come, sadly.

Thanks William, that's what I get for typing in a hurry.

William also has the right of it concerning Sean Bean. Even if they had completely changed the story so Ned lived into season 2 and Sean was in Belfast during September and even if we paid him thousands of pounds that we don't have we still would not be able to get him as a guest. As I understand it Sean only attends conventions when required to do so for promotional work, he prefers to keep his privacy and it seems to me he does not enjoy getting huge amounts of public attention.

Sorry about that although I kind of suspect it was not a serious question anyway ;)

Richard Madden was at our first Moot in 2009 and Kit Harrington has attended both of the Moots so I would say that if their filming schedule has them in Belfast at that time then it is likely that they would attend again.

But this is not a definite answer so please don't take it as such.

Before this turns into a long list of posts asking about every individual actor in the cast and I have to start divulging details which should remain private I have to ask you guys to be patient with us on this. I fully understand that knowing who will be there affects your decision to attend and I really wish we could finalise the entire guestlist but everything is in flux right now until the filming schedule is finalised. But with the start of filming about a month away we should know fairly soon.

Going by past experience of the previous two Moots you will NOT be disappointed that you attended even if everyone you wanted to meet isn't there and even if you don't know who is going to be there. The Moots were kind of lottery events like that, you never knew just who might attend which was fun in a way and I do anticipate an element of that in TitanCon with last minute additions that come in too late to be announced and maybe surprise appearances that even we don't know about till they turn up on the door.

You never know what might happen but if you're not there you won't get to see it...

Any chance of Richard Madden, Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke, etc?

Richard Madden and Kit Harrington turned up last year, as well as around 8 other actors and Bryan Cogman. It depends who is fiming when, and whether they fancy coming along for some craic.......

It's certainly a good 'chaic'!

A word on Kristian and Militos - both really swell guys. Kristian Nairn became something of a 'standard bearer' for the 'banners' last year making sure lots of cast and production knew about the moot and encouraging them to come out with us. Whereas with Militos - as far as he and we know (excepting future books) first season is his only one, but he's still up for coming out again with us despite no longer being on the 'Thrones' books - says a hell of a lot about what he thought about the Moot last year!

As others have said with the cast and the crew it does really depend on prior commitments and who may or not be available (due to filming or otherwise) and up for it that particular night. Last year for instance we got a lot of Night's Watch people - John Bradley-West making over the top protestations about 'all his bruises' gave away what scene they'd been filming that day! Generally though it was a very good atmosphere and does bode well for future such gatherings.

While we're at Ser MountainGoat: is there a possibility however small GRRM and Parris might be over again?

The Moots were of course organised for when George and Parris were going to be in Belfast which is why we could only announce them a month or two months ahead of time because that was when George had confirmed his schedule and we could start making plans. But for a convention like this we need to book the venue much much earlier and put all the plans in place at least six months ahead of time so we had to pick a date. The date we've picked does not clash with other major events in Belfast or other SF/F conventions across Europe or the massive cons in the US. It is a date that works for us and works for those guests that we had already arranged at the end of last year and early this year.

Unfortunately this means the date is not likely to be one suitable for George. He has said on his blog that he is planning a trip to Belfast this autumn during filming but that does not necessarily mean he will be there for September 24, October might be better for him or he might decide he has too much work to do and not make the trip at all. Right now we just don't know what his plans are and we have to remember his schedule is just crazy busy right now. Generally George's con appearances are booked 2-3 years in advance so we were far too late to organise that for this year. If we were not the BWB it would be an automatic answer of no chance at all, but maybe, just maybe there is a slim chance. But honestly it is a slim chance.

Of course we would be absolutely blown away if George can be there, I mean he was the first person I spoke to about the idea of this convention, in a lot of ways this is George's very own convention so I really hope he can be there. We'll all just have to wait and see on that one.

Apologies to anyone that has been trying to buy full membership to TitanCon since yesterday, I messed the form up so it would only add Coach Tour tickets when you clicked the membership button. Sorry about that.

But it's fixed now and definitely working so please try again. Thank you.

Right time to announce more Game of Thrones guests for TitanCon. This time we have two people from the production crew because the people behind the camera are just as important as those in front of it.

William Simpson ~ Storyboard Artist

William Simpson is a storyboard artist working on HBO's Game of Thrones, but he is far better known as a comic artist and illustrator. Over his 30 year career Will has worked for all the major comic houses: Dark Horse, DC, Vertigo, Marvel and 2000AD.

In recent years Will has concentrated primarily on illustration and filmmaking and has drawn storyboards for films including Breakfast on Pluto, Closing the Ring, Reign of Fire, City of Ember and Your Highness. Many of these were filmed in Belfast and this has naturally lead to Game of Thrones. William was at Belfast Moot 2 and we are very pleased to say he will be joining us again at TitanCon.

Maria Moore ~ Hair & make-up

Maria Moore is one of the talented team members of the Hair Department on HBO's Game of Thrones. Maria has over 20 years experience in hair and make-up design having spent 14 years in London's West End including big theatre productions such as Mamma Mia, Cats and Evita. Maria also has extensive TV credits including Children in Need, The Generation Game, Big Breakfast, GMTV, BBC Newsline as well as Film credits including Your Highness and City of Ember.

At TitanCon 2011 Maria will lead a Workshop in Make-up for Stage and Screen as part of our series of Film Making Workshops. Please note that this workshop is not specifically about Game of Thrones though Maria is likely to touch on her work for the show as she reveals the tricks of the trade and how to get actors ready for their big scene. A must see for any aspiring make-up artists and film makers that want to learn more.

Maria will be on other panels throughout the day to answer questions about hair design in Game of Thrones - just whatever you do don't mention "Eyebrow-Gate"...
