Doran
Ok, next summary thread for those inclined general impressions and thoughts so far. This one includes Tyrion 3, Davos 1, Jon 3, Daenerys 2: 148 - 160, Reek 1, Bran 2, Tyrion 4, Davos 2. Please don't post spoilers for events later in the book!I continue to like the book. Bran 2 is my favourite chapter so far. I also like to see both Dany and Jon struggling with the immensity of their jobs. Nice character building there. And then there's Reek. Although I had browsed the spoiler chapter before, I found it horrible to read it fully now. I fear the worst for everybody around this bastard of Bolton, but hope the writing doesn't get closer to torture porn than this. I'm afraid it will, though. Monsters: With Coldhands, Tyrion and Dany declaring themselves monsters already and then seeing a real one in Ramsay, this might become a theme of this novel. A'shaman
I agree. What did you think of Davos 2? I think "monsters" is a theme, as is leadership. Jon, whose name I used to dread seeing as a chapterhead, has pretty much became my favourite character in the book. Wtf!?
Doran
What did you think of Davos 2? I'm worried as all hell.I fear for Davos, too, i.e. I tend to believe the reports from Feast that he has died, will die, will have died... Ah, GRRM, don't you know the most basic rules of time travel? I'm strangely untouched by his chapters yet, though.I think "monsters" is a theme, as is leadership. Yes. And "serjeants".Jon, whose name I used to dread seeing as a chapterhead, has pretty much became my favourite character in the book. Wtf!?I always liked him, still do. I have read a little beyod the p200 mark and the next Jon chapter is great, too!

Jon, whose name I used to dread seeing as a chapterhead, has pretty much became my favourite character in the book. Wtf!?Yes. monster does seem to be a recurring theme. And I agree about Jon's chapters. Once we got through the retreading of scenes covered in AFFC, basically from the end of Jon 2 onwards, I found his chapters to have been, easily, the best in the book so far as I've read.P.S. YAY, I finally have an edit button. :)
krazychao5
ah, i forget that there was word that davos' head was taken at white harbor and that he is probably in the past from when that happened. anyone know where in feast that word of him was dead? Bad Hound!
Can't remember anything in AFFC saying Davos had died?Davos 2 makes sense to me - he is very much alive, and is about to go and see Lord Wyman Manderly. I don't think the Davos 2 chapter told us much, aside from the fact that Manderly is readying himself for war but we don't know which side he'll join. Davos is pessimistic because there's no way of knowing whether he'll join Stannis, or Bolton/Frey/Tommen.
