TyrionsFlagon
What was the deal with the Loras and Renly scene, where Loras was shaving Renly. Neither of them seemed remotely gay in the book. Why would HBO do that? How will that fit into season 2?
Xray the Enforcer
There are many threads and FAQs dedicated to this. Yes, Loras and Renly were most definitely gay, and most definitely in a relationship, in the books. GRRM has confirmed it as well. How it will progress in the show vs. the books is anyone's guess, but the homosexuality of those two characters is not something the show writers fabricated, even if that particular scene was not in the source material. From the Westeros FAQ (report itself is from 2005): Given all the indications in the series, it seems safe to say that Renly Baratheon and Loras Tyrell were lovers. [...] GRRM has laid matters to rest by stating about them, “Yes, I did intend those characters to be gay” (SSM).Anyway, closing this thread because we have discussions about that scene in the thread dedicated to that episode. Thank you.
