The Drowned King and the Faceless Crow - Complete analysis

I'm also having trouble finding threads/topics regarding Euron but everyone seems to like mentioning him on a regular basis. I would love to read some topics with predictions for Euron and mor einfo about him.

On topic now:

I really do think he killed Balon. Whether it be with a Faceles Man, himself (love that idea of him climbing and doing it himself), or any other way. Aeron's character and POV's don't support him killing Balon IMO. So what if he wears seaweed sometimes? It's simply something to identify with the Ironborn.

I think the crow is a clear reference to Euron and the drowned is just cause he, as most of the iron born, has been drowned (as in the ritual Damphair does) and brought back so "what is dead cannot die".

What if the Drowned Crow is a reference to Cotter Pyke. He is a crow (man of the nights watch, commander of the east-watch by the sea) and he is drowned (from the Iron Islands).

Perhaps he has a larger role to play!

Finding theories like this makes me so happy to have found this place. I totally but this one and it was one of the ones that googling about lead me here.

As for the question of the price Euron paid the FM, is it too obvious for it to be the Dragon Egg which he "threw away" on a whim? Given how disappointed he seems with the Ironborn thrown he bought with it, when a real dragon could've brought him the Iron Thrown, that would qualify as throwing it away, especially if he also had to give up most of his fortune with the egg, money and something else and all.

Why would Cotter do such a thing? And how?

my own feeling is that euron is in the employ of braavos and the iron bank...by providing him a faceless man and a treasure horde to win the kingsmoot, braavos puts euron on the seastone chair and gets direct control of the iron fleet. in return, euron commits the iron fleet to the targaryen cause half way round the world to support the investment the sealord himself made years ago with the targaryen and martells.

braavos also has an intrest in dany and her destruction of the slave trade. as a city founded by escaped slaves, smashing this economy has always been important to braavos. it should be noted that although ancient valyria was an enemy of braavos, the targaryens were not. the targaryen dynasty in westeros had dragons but no slaves. dany's vehement anti slavery stance in meereeen will surely attract braavos to her cause.

and lets not forget that after roberts rebellion, braavos and dorne conspired with the targaryens for the iron throne. the sealord himself clearly invested braavos to the targaryen cause. but secracy was paramount. braavos could not be seen directly meddling in westrosi politics given the debts accrued to the iron bank and the integration of their economies.

no one knows what euron did in his exile; curiously, he keeps a crew of mutes so one can dispute his own story though you would expect that if he did half the glorious deeds he said he did, it would please him to have a crew that boasts of his glory. secracy is more important for euron. perhaps he sailed to braavos and spent the time plotting with merchants and bankers.

when balon crowned himself, euron and braavos seized their oppertunity. balon was killed by the FM and eurons holds were filled with treasure to claim the crown. in return, euron commits the iron fleet to escort dany and her claim home to westeros. rather than risk their own ships, braavos, for much less gold secures a navy for the targaryen invasion of westeros. euron satisfied with his crown does not realize that he is in fact the catspaw of braavos.

braavos investment in stannis is primarily to destabilize westeros in advance of the targaryen invasion. by supporting and funding the war from rival claims, braavos insures that no strong king could resist the invasion.

I like this. It ties up someone ends with Euron. It makes more sense for him to believe he has a chance at the iron throne with powerful backers.

euron says he sailed to valyria and asshai in the two years he was gone...i think this voyage at minimum must have taken all that time if true...if he did hire the FM and paid for it on his own, he must have done so in braavos ...if euron did have a dragon egg, that dragon egg would possibly pay for the assassination of balon, but at the very least, braavos must be involved in contract of this magnitude and it only can be arranged in braavos under the brokerage of the sealord or iron bank. when was euron in braavos to arrange this given his own claims of siling to asshai...there are alot of strange holes in eurons story with only his word to go on...btw...

where is that egg now if it ever existed and what is braavos doing with it?

Well the Braavosi hate dragons, and the Faceless Men prob caused the doom of valyria just like the CotF made the stepstones after encountering the first men.

I doubt they'd pay money for a dragon egg unless they sought to destroy it.
