Sliver of hope that Syrio is alive?

When we leave Syrio and Meryn they are dancing around, and Syrio's lead-cored stick has been cut off short. Syrio had been raining blows off Meryn's armor while not being seriously threatened. Previously Meryn as said Syrio is quick for a dancing master and the reply was that Meryn was slow for a knight. Syrio also had a dagger picked up from one of the Lannister guards and could probably slipped that through gaps in Meryn's armor to deadly effect, but since Meryn is around later that doesn't happen. I just don't see Meryn being able to kill Syrio at this point. Kinda like the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote.

I kind of like the Syrio=Meryn trant idea.

Just because after we see the two of them fighting theres no mention of that fight ever happening from anyone in KL, you thing trant would have mentioned to somone that he had killed the first sword of braavos, that kind of thing seems like kind of a big deal.

To make such a show of his skill and how he faces off armored men with a wooden sword, and then not show the drama of him succumbing and saving Arya by putting himself out there and outnumbered in such a brave, selfless moment.

Fishy to me.

Also, I listened to the background sounds in the show during that scene. Martin detail paranoia kicking in full time, and I heard metal dropping. Could totally be me though.

Also, we read about so many deaths in every gory detail in the series, why not his?

It was metal dropping in the show, and that sort of had me buying into the he's alive theory a little. I really wouldnt be shocked either way, but it would be an odd coincidence that of all the free cities to end up in Arya ended up in the same city that Syrio is from.

not really, its because the two my influential (non-family) people in her life are from Braavos that she ends up there. Not to mention that she was trying to get to the wall when she went.

I think its funny, that when Jon is trying to save her he thinks of sending to to Braavos.

Also, I hope Ramsay gets to meet her one day. The only problem is she'd kill him to fast.

Errant like to get superior with people.

Its just tiredness with another round of the same old weak arguments about Syrio.

Exacerbated because the show reference brings it up again which is really stupid (and therefore even more annoying) since Syrio's philosophy in the show is the opposite of the Faceless Men Creed. Syrio's line on the show, " What to we say to the god of death - not today" is defying death (with bravado, fitting for Bravosi), whereas the FM worship death, are happy to give it out and live by 'valar Morghulis" - All men must die".

For all you newcomers, Syrio is dead, 99%. Alive, 1%. He only gets that 1% because we didn't see him physically die, since our POV had run away as she was instructed to.

Instead of trying to make weak and pathetic arguments that have been countered a million times before, read some of these threads first at least.

Meh. Based on that logic Jaqen shouldn't have said anything and burned to death happily.

Could be he left the service of the Many-Faced God and became the First Sword of Braavos.

Could be he left the service of the Many-Faced God and became the First Sword of Braavos.

Could be he retired as first sword and went on to serve the many faced god.

Could the actual Syrio is running a sell sword company somewhere and a faceless man assumed his identity in order to join Eddard Stark's employ.
