Best and Worst POV

The Swaggering Bravo

Recommended Posts

I'm not going to lie, I'm really enjoying the most recent Bran chapters. I'm really loving the "magic" aspect of the North. Jaime's inner musings are always amusing. I really liked Milisandre's one chapter, and I've also been enjoying Sansa's more recent chapters. Dany's chapters are a pain to get through and I thought Brienne's story arc in AFfC was quite pointless.

I know a few people who just started COK and are irate with Davos.

I told them to hang in there.

Patchface and the oh's are not helping either.

LOL!

Yeah, I was really irritated with this new guy I didn't have any attachment to on my first readthrough as well. Now that I'm going through the series again, Davos' POVs are really interesting.

The best for me would be Jon. The wall, the mystery of the others & two interesting factions in the wildlings/nightswatch. Nevermind the fact that Jon is a very likable, insightful character himself.

The least favorite would be Victarion. I honestly don't get what GRRM is going for with Victarion in general. He isn't likable enough to be invested in & he doesn't have enough layers to be intriguing.

Best:

Jon

Arya

Davos

Bran

Ned

Sansa

Areo (Oh yeah! Only for the Fly on the Wall business)

Theon

Jaime

Worst:

Aeron by miles.

Victarion sucks. The Dusky Woman is awesome though.

Ones i liked but dont really fancy reading again:

Catelyn. Her chapters are painful to read. All that grief...:(

Brienne. Shes a great character but a bit on the dull side. While seeing the smallfolk is fascinating, it drags a bit.

Quentyn. A neat look at how someone else would see Essos but overall uneventful except for Dornish BBQ.

Tyrion: Fun on the first run, but later on, ugh. Plus rereading his stuff is just...he wallows. Probably more than Cat.

Game of Thrones:

Best: Tyrion or Jon Snow

Worst: Sansa

Notable mention: Arya and Dany

Clash of Kings:

Best: Tyrion

Worst: probably Davos

Storm of Swords:

Best: Jaime (honestly Grrm is a genius in character development. Jaime takes the cake)

Worst: Catelyn. she got so dull. someone should just kill her already - OH WAIT.

Notable mention: Sansa

Feast for Crows:

Best: Jaime and Sansa

Worst: Brienne

Notable mention: Arys Oakheart

Dance with Dragons:

Best: Theon

Worst: Dany's. enough said

Notable Mention: Barristan, JonCon, Jon

Overall:

Best: Jaime, Arya, Tyrion, Jon, Sansa (post GoT)

Worst: Brienne, Aeron Greyjoy (although not asss bad on a re-read)

For Winds of Winter, I'm looking forward to:

Most: Alayne/Sansa, Jaime, Barristan, Victarion, Theon, Arya

Least: Cersei, Arianne, Asha, Aeron, Brienne

Come on Faint.... even the Damphair and Areo Hotah? :)

Yes, actually. In fact, I like the Areo Hotah chapters quite a bit. And I struggle to understand how anybody could dislike the Kingsmoot chapter, which is told from Aeron Greyjoy's perspective.

Best- Bran (and I know I'm in the minority here)

Worst, I really don't have a worst. I mean there are slow, or dull chapters from every POV it seems like but no one particular character.

But hands down favorite POV out of the whole asoiaf universe would definitely be Dunk.
