DirePenguin
A little backtrack here. Right on the first page of the book about Garred. The book saysHe was an old man, past fifty, and he had seen the lordlings come and go.What does come & go imply? Just passing by in his life? Or there's something more? Lummel
passing by through his life and career. Gared is a ranger and during the time he has been a ranger he has seen lots of lords and sons of lords spend some time as rangers and then go off to do other things. It implies that Gared is an old hand, knows what he's doing and what he's talking about and is something of an expert while the lords and their sons who come and go are not.
