I like the idea that the Daynes are in some way The Starks Of The South. There's some mojo in their bloodline, they are important and have a role to play in the battle that really matters, the description of "Dawn" making it sound like the blades The Others use, and so on. That they, too, take family slogans a bit more seriously than all the other houses coming up with a variation on "Yo, we're awesome" and reference the big picture.And whereas the Stark words are a sober warning ("Winter Is Coming") the Dayne words offer a ray of hope. The long night/WINTER is long but not eternal; it will end, and summer/THE DAWN will come.It really is too bad Ned+Ashara=Jon doesn't have any momentum in this fan community anymore, because it could totally work too. Something like how Jon is supposed to come down and pick the sword up when he's ready to fulfill his destiny, etc. in the standard fantasy story fashion.
