Sandor's Theme Song (possible spoilers)

Recommended Posts

Hi from a newbie!

The first song that comes to my mind related to Sandor is The Unforgiven, by Metallica. It suits him perfectly!

Lyrics:

New blood joins this earth

And quickly he's subdued

Through constant pain disgrace

The young boy learns their rules

With time the child draws in

This whipping boy done wrong

Deprived of all his thoughts

The young man struggles on and on he's known

A vow unto his own

That never from this day

His will they'll take away

Chorus:

What I've felt, what I've known

Never shined through what I've shown

Never be, never see

Won't see what might have been

What I've felt, what I've known

Never shined through what I've shown

Never free, never me

So I dub thee unforgiven

They dedicate their lives

To running all of his

He tries to please them all

This bitter man he is

Throughout his life the same

He's battled constantly

This fight he cannot win

A tired man they see no longer cares

The old man then prepares

To die regretfully

That old man here is me

(Chorus)

You labeled me

I'll label you

So I dub thee unforgiven

You can listen to it here

And here is more newphies on forum... :)

Found this topic and I haved note that Im a one of those SanSan ppls, forgive me.

This is not from 80's but might work somehow... (Okay its a pussy and lame song when think about Clegane character on the book..)

James Blunt - I really want you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuRjiNUDQ3s

Many prophets preach on bended knee. Many clerics wasted wine.

Do the bloodied sheets on those cobbled streets mean I have wasted time?

Are there silver shores on paradise? Can I come in from the cold?

I killed a man in a far away land, my enemy I'm told.

I really want you to really want me, but I really don't know if you can do that.

I know you want to know what's right but I know it's so hard for you to do that.

And time's running out as often it does, and often dictates that you can't do that.

But fate can't break this feeling inside that's burning up through my veins.

I really want you.

I really want you.

I really want you - now.

No matter what I say or do, the message isn't getting through,

And you're listening to the sound of my breaking heart.

I really want you.

I really want you.

Is a poor man rich in solitude, or will Mother Earth complain?

Did the beggar pray for a sunny day, but Lady Luck for rain?

They say a million people bow and scrape to an effigy of gold.

I saw life begin and the ship we're in and history unfold.

I really want you to really want me but I really don't know if you can do that.

I know you want to know what's right but I know it's so hard for you to do that.

And time's running out as often it does and often dictates that you can't do that.

I really want you - now.

Welcome and well-done on your first post. I've always thought Sandor feels things deeply (for a dangerous killer that is!). We encourage all sorts of songs (and some posters think [strongly] we should have less 80s ones anyway).

Ahh....I've resisted posting in this thread for so long, but here it goes....

From Earth I Rose

by Amorphis

http://youtu.be/fUBje4NmZu0

Darkness was my light

Muteness was my tongue

Death was my life

Matter was my spirit

I am a brother to the fire

To fire a brother I am

From breast of maidens three

I drank the black milk*

Devoured the white milk

I swallowed the red milk

Brother to the fire I am

Brother to the fire

I've lain in the dark bowels

Bowels of this Riverland marshland

Dead beneath the soil

Under the waters

Oblivious to all

Devoid of all knowing

Ok, this is actually quite a lovely song about the origin of iron in Finnish mythology from the perspective of Iron...yes, from the perspective of an element. In the Finnish Kalevala, Iron is called the 'little brother' to Fire. Maybe I am just way too obsessed with Sandor Clegane at the moment, but this song makes me think of Sandor and how his identity (or at least, his origin story) is so elemental....and so closely related to fire. And yet, Sandor's element is not Fire itself, but rather what the fire (his older brother) has made him....Iron. Iron is strong but needs to go through an intense process involving fire and water in order to reach it's potential. The Hound dies near the banks of the Trident (Water), and 'death beneath the soil' and 'devoid of all knowing' refer to Sandor 'From Earth I Rose' and his identity as the Gravedigger, and the unanswered question of his continued existence/non-existence(?) in the story.

*What the three milks represent is ambiguous, but could be black= joy of killing, white = the innocence of a little bird, red = the fear of the fire, and the Red God

Ok, maybe I'm stretching it, but somehow it works for me. :cool4:

Valkyrja, that song fits so perfectly with the Hound! Fire (his brother), is what turned him into the bitter angry man he is now, it has destroyed him and filled him with hatred, but it has also given him strength and fierceness. In order to completely become Iron, he needs to go through water, to regain his own identity and get a reason to live besides killing his brother. It may sound silly, but when you get burnt, water soothes you and eases the pain, so I think Sansa may represent water in this case, as her attitude and personality are somehow refreshing to him; and after the death of the Hound in the Riverlands, maybe Sandor can be reborn to his full potential and "rise from the Earth"... I really hope so!

(I'm also obsessed with him, you're not alone xD. I even had a dream with him a few nights ago.)

Soo it's very fascinating that people immediately thought of songs that had fitting lyrics.

I'm the opposite.

I want music/song that SOUNDS like the hound. Don't care for the lyrics that much.

Therefore can't believe all the 80-90s suggestions *cringes*

I kind of like Damien Rice - 9 crimes (Demo) version. But it's not perfect.

I love your thinking on this - so appropriate to Sandor

Post QI-Sandor, if he ever meets post-LF Sansa again, might say this (probably with more swearing) and in a rasping voice.

"Fuckin' Perfect" by Pink

Made a wrong turn once or twice

Dug my way out, blood and fire

Bad decisions, that's alright

Welcome to my silly life
(...to my f***ked-up life)

Mistreated, misplaced, misunderstood

Miss 'No way, it's all good'

It didn't slow me down.

Mistaken, always second guessing

Underestimated, look I'm still around

Pretty, pretty please, don't you ever, ever feel

Like you're less than fucking perfect

Pretty, pretty please, if you ever, ever feel

Like you're nothing, you're fucking perfect to me

You're so mean when you talk

About yourself. You were wrong.

Change the voices in your head

Make them like you instead.

So complicated,

Look happy, You'll make it!

Filled with so much hatred

Such a tired game

It's enough, I've done all I could think of

Chased down all my demons

I've seen you do the same

(Ohh ohhhhhhh)

Pretty, pretty please, don't you ever, ever feel

Like you're less than fucking perfect

Pretty, pretty please, if you ever, ever feel

Like you're nothing, you're fucking perfect to me

The whole world's scared, so I swallow the fear

The only thing I should be drinking is an ice cold beer

So cool in line and we try try try but we try too hard

And it's a waste of my time.

Done looking for the critics, cause they're everywhere

They don't like my jeans, they don't get my hair

Exchange ourselves and we do it all the time

Why do we do that, why do I do that (why do I do that)?

(Yeah!)

I'm Pretty, pretty, pretty
(this might be a stretch?)

Pretty, pretty please, don't you ever, ever feel

Like you're less than fucking perfect

Pretty, pretty please, if you ever, ever feel

Like you're nothing, you're fucking perfect to me

(You're perfect, you're perfect)

Pretty, pretty please, don't you ever, ever feel

Like you're less than fucking perfect.

Pretty, pretty please, if you ever, ever feel

Like you're nothing, you are perfect to me.

Edit: IMO, after what Sansa's been through in KL and after spending time with LF, she's going to have serious self-esteem issues and probably deserves to hear this from somebody she trusts. Arya and Jeyne P also need to hear it from someone who cares about them (maybe even Sansa?).

For some reason:

The Offspring: Something to Believe in

I believe that reality's gone

Disillusion's real

I believe that morality's gone

And there's nothing to feel

If you take the sacred things

The things that we hold dear

Empty promise is all you'll find

So give me something

Something to believe in [x4]

I believe in a changing of the guard

Put our feet on the ground

See it happen in your own backyard

Everything breaks down

Do you accept what you are told

Without even thinking

Throw it all and make your own

And give me something

Something to believe in [x4]

Where they lead

You will follow

Well I guess that's just the way it goes

And if you look away

You'll be doing what they say

And if you look alive

You'll be singled out and tried

If you take home anything

Let it be your will to think

The more cynical you become

The better off you'll be

Something to believe in [x8]
