The Bear & the Maiden fair

Is this ever present song foreshadowing? Is Jorah the bear and Dany the maiden fair? Are the 3 boys the Dragons ? and if so who is the goat?

"A bear there was,"

"A bear, A BEAR!

"All black and brown,"

"And covered with hair!

"Oh come they said,"

"Oh come to the fair!"

"The fair? said he,

"But I'm a bear!"

"All black and brown,"

"And covered in hair!"

"And down the road,"

"From here to there,"

"From here!To there!"

"Three boys, a goat,"

"And a dancing bear!"

"They danced and spun,"

"All the way to the fair!"

"Oh! sweet she was,"

"And pure and fair,"

"The maid with honey,"

"In her hair! Her hair,"

"The maid with honey,"

"in her hair!"

The bear smelled the scent,

"On the summer air!"

"The Bear! The Bear!"

"All black and brown,"

"And covered with hair!"

"He smelled the scent,"

"On the summer air,"

"He sniffed and roared,"

"And smelled it there!"

"Honey on the summer air!"

"Oh I'm a maid,"

"And I'm pure and fair,"

"I'll never dance,"

"With a hairy bear,"

"A bear! A bear!"

"I'll never dance,"

"With a hairy bear!"

"The bear,the bear!"

"Lifted her high,"

into the air!"

The bear, the bear!"

"I called for a knight!"

"But you're a bear!"

"A bear! A bear,"

"All black and brown,"

"And cover in hair!"

"She kicked and wailed,"

"The maid so fair,"

"But he licked the honey,"

"From her hair!"

"Her hair! Her hair!"

"He licked the honey,"

"From her hair!"

"Then she sighed and squealed,"

"And kicked the air,"

"She sang: My bear so fair,"

"And off they went,"

"The bear! The bear!"

"And the maiden fair!"

Not Jorah specifically. It is more symbolic, referring to Sansa having to everntually marry someone a bit more monstrous than the Dashing Blond Prince she fantasized about.

First Willas the Cripple filled this role.

Then it was Tyrion

Then Dontos, briefly.

Eventually, I think she will end up with the Hound as the love of her life.

Her bear.

Yeah I always thought it was more pointing to Sansa, being prudy and distastful about big, scary, frightening men.

Whereas Dany is attracted to that sort of tough guy (Drogo, Daario).

Could be but what about....

"And down the road,"

"From here to there,"

"From here!To there!" (Pointless meandering from Vaes Dothrak to Quarth, to Astapor to Mereen etc)

"Three boys,(Three Dragons) a goat," (Tyrion?)

"And a dancing bear!"

The funniest thing about this song to me is that Dany says there is a bear on her ship that will eat her if she doesn't get back to him when talking to the slavers in Astapor. It's pretty obvious she missed the meaning of the song too.

There's so many cases where this fits... Jorah and Dany, of course, and also Sansa and Willas/Tyrion/Dontos. But then there's also Brienne in Vargo Hoat's(!) Bear Pit, and there might be even more forthcoming.

Possibly, but does it ever fit as well as Dany & Jorah?

Jorah: From Bear island, bear as a sigil, hairy, and a disgraced knight (I asked for a Knight but got a bear)

Dany: Maiden fair (well Fair at least if not a maid !)

3 Boys (3 dragons)

Wandering from here to there (Danys whole arc)

I still just cant figure out the Goat bit.....
