LotR vs. ASoIaF, which novel series do you prefer?

Can't really say as i've only read the third book from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Other than that i only read the Silmarillion.

Therefore, as much as i love the LOTR movies, book wise, i prefer aSoIaF due to it's proximity to reality and how with it GRRMs achieves, to a greater level, the whole idea that the world isn't a garden of roses.

Now if you were to ask me about the movies/tv show, i'd have to go with the movies, simply because with them there was more room to make the battles actually large scale ones, unlike the GoT tv show where you can't really obtain a sense of grand scale from it (im looking at you Battle of Blackwater!!)
