Casting Griff

Mr Smith

Recommended Posts

I have a very clear image of Griff in my head, particular in regards to his manner. They need to cast someone with the sort of shortness and bitterness that surrounds Griff's character.

My personal choice would be Jeremy Irons, although he might be getting a bit old now...

i've been thinking about who to cast in this role and to me its perhaps the easiest one to cast there are loads of great actors who'd fit in this role really well

ideally, my favourite would be Kevin McKidd (have you seen the guy in rome? his character is practically griff, and he's ginger to boot) but he's indicate he doesnt like the idea of going on game of thrones very much because it 'stole his show' apparently or something like that

plenty of other candidates too though

david wenham http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0920992/?ref_=sr_1

john simm http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0799591/?ref_=sr_1

christopher eccleston http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001172/?ref_=sr_4

Tony Curran http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0192889/?ref_=sr_1

all of these guys have played serious, soldier type roles before and would fit perfectly as connington (though admittedly i'm annoyed mckidd wont be cast)

Since having Paul Bettany in my minds eye whilst reading, I just know I'll be disappointed on hearing who's got the role.

Of course, I'm equally sure my disappointment won't survive the actor's first scene - the casting really is fantastic.

I'm sure someone will have nominated Purefoy, and pretty much everyone else from Rome by the time I head up to bed tonight

Why not Micheal C.Hall, i dont think that he is very expensive en this will be his last season in Dexter. And he has big fanbase with Dexter so it will also bring more viewers to the show.

John Simm is 5'9", compared to the other actors on the show, no one will buy him being a warrior. Christopher Eccleston would be a good choice in my opinion, but he would be a good choice for many roles.

I could see Liam Neeson pulling this off.

I personally believe the show has lacked a "proper" star actor since Sean Bean. Every show needs at least one widely famous actor, and GoT is currently lacking, although the show has made stars out of some of the cast.

Liam Neeson would fit this bill nicely, and I could definitely seeing him bringing the tragic hero that is Jon Connington to the small screen.
