Red Wedding...Overeacting?

The Crow

Am i the only one who isnt bothered by this? i hear people say that they threw there books and stormed outside...dont you think that is overreacting a little bit?

The Red Wedding did not affect me much because i was always a Stannis fan.

Were you greatly ticked off by this and threw your book across the room and cursed aloud? or did you shrugg it off and keep reading?

Honestly, Robb's death was kind of meh...I expected him to die, and I knew the Starks were going to lose the war in any case.

Then they killed Cat, and I was like HOLY SHIT HE WENT THERE!!!

I completely agree, I hadn't really been interested in robb since he became KITN, but cats death was appaling

I was more upset about the death of Cat, didnt really care about Robb all that much...

but now that Cat is back...

I kind of stopped reading for a couple of days after the RW, I was really upset and angry. I was furious that he killed Robb, and even Grey Wind! I thought Cat would be taken hostage but she didn't, that shocked me as well.

I was glad to know though that Greatjon's still alive.

I didn't rage at my book or anything, but getting a bunch of people drunk with the music and then replacing the instruments with crossbows and then opening fire...

pretty horrific stuff.

It's not so much the people that were killed to me, it's the act itself.

Then again, these books are full of horrifying actions and events.

This, and also when Dayce Mormont got axed in the stomach and the SmallJon died. Robb`s death was nothing for me compared to those 3

I sighed, but I saw it coming. I KNEW something bad would happen, you can kinda tell the scenario based off of the way GRRM describes his food porn, after all, he had horrible food, horrible music, leading up to a series of horrible deaths. Meanwhile, good food and good music tends to lead up to good things. (Like the Purple Wedding.)

After reading the RW part, i was honestly upset, i was thinking OMG all those men of Robb and catelyn, the northmen and the women, all the riverlords, good men all and loyal and honourable, how can they die, and then sowing grewinds head on Robb, the utter disrespect, I think there were some chapters after that, which i didnt read for a long time, I was just so damm angry at the freys and boltons and Tywin Lannister and Joffery, damm it! and then the lies, i honestly wanted to throttle the freys in White Harbour who told their lies while smirking, well atleast i got some satisfaction as we all know they never made it to winterfell.

I don't think it was Robb's death, that caused people to freak out and get angry. He was bound to die. I think it was the over all event and act, along with the deaths of Cat, Mormont and Umber, that really bothered people. Plus Grey Wind, it was horrible, that he died.

Haha yeah I think I felt more shocked than upset that he killed them off, even despite the hints that foreshadowed it. It's testament to how good the books are though, in a way, that people react so fiercely to it. I certainly wouldn't have minded if Robb and Cat etc survived, but the good part is that there are plenty of other characters to continue with.

Also, I can't understand the Stannis love. Guy's the worst.

No matter the foreshadowing and hints and howls, it was awful to read. Despite everything else bad that had happened up to this point in the series, it was the Red Wedding that truly drove home the point that no one is safe. I guess I'm slow on the uptake!

I was more confused at first than anything. I had to go back and read it again before I realized half of them had died. The only one that really upset me was Dacey. I rather liked her.

I can't say people overreact though. I've been known to throw books or stop reading when a favorite character dies. Some people get more attached than others, I guess.
