A prediction on Edric Storm

Martin put Robert's bastards in the story for a reason so I'm gonna make a prediction on Edric Storm. So as we know from the sample TWOW chapter Stannis has struck a deal with the Iron Bank and has sent Massey to Braavos to acquire sellswords. So I believe since Edric is in the Free Cities with four men who Davos trusted I think Edric will hear word of this Knight in service to Stannis looking for sellswords so now he knows Stannis is his uncle and that he himself has a good claim on the throne if he was legitimized so he along with his protectors confronts Massey and forces him to take him along with this new sellsword army of Stannis's to the North (I also have another theory of Edric and the Iron Bank) But heres where it gets tricky because after they leave Braavos they will most certainly go to the Wall naturally where Massey came from so this is where I think the Others will be attacking the wall and the wildlings and the NW will be making a last stand but Edric comes in with the sellswords and saves the day (and they're armed with dragonglass because I think the IB knows about the Others) but then the Red priestess will try and sacrifice Edric because he has King's blood but Edric kills her instead then he marches down to Winterfell where Stannis has won the Battle of Winterfell and with a large sellsword army at his back Stannis has no choice but to legitimize him and make him an heir and marry him to Shireen. So what do you guys think? Thoughts? Comments? Opinions?

I don't think so. I think Dany will bump into Edric in Lys, and Tyrion will persuade her to legitimize Edric and make him her puppet Lord of SE. I don't think Massey will go to Lys. Edric already knows that Stannis is his uncle, he left because STannis was going to let Mel sacrifice him.

I didn't say Massey will go to Lys because I think he's going to Braavos with that banker and I think Edric will here of this Massey shopping for sellswords for Stannis in Braavos and he will go there out of revenge against Stannis because he'll confront him this large sellsword army and make Stannis legitimize him hence getting revenge.

I used to think Edric was important but now I'm not sure, since they've left him out of the HBO series. From the previews of week 8, it looks like Gendry is replacing him in the story line. Edric may have simply sailed off, never to be seen again.

I think that it's worth mentioning that Jorah's ex-wife, Lynesse Hightower, is in Lys, and Humphrey Hightower is heading that way to hire sell sails. Oldtown's loyalty to Tommen's faction is faltering since they are disgruntled by how Kinglanding is handling the Iron born raids. If Edric's escort was taught Stannis's new motto -- protect the realm to win the crown -- before they left, then they may help protect Oldtown to win the Hightowers over to Stannis' cause. Also, Leyton's wife is a Florent; Leyton's children are Edric's second cousins.

It's hard to say. Gendry doesn't really do anything of importance in the books after Arya leaves. He could easily be rescued by Davos, and sent to Essos like Edric was, where he learns his uncle is hiring sell swords etc.

I think there's a strong possibility that Stannis wanted Edric as a match for Shireen from the beginning. If he'd meant to sacrifice Edric, why let him become a companion of Shireen's? Why include him in her lessons with Maester Pylos? It seems like Edric was being treated more like a member of the family than a sacrifice-in-waiting.

Stannis knows the Baratheon family tree is woefully narrow now and Shireen is his only heir. A marriage to a legitimized Edric would keep the Baratheon name alive in a credible way and create a marriage partner for her with strong links to Storm's End and the Florents.

This would be the smart thing to do and Edric has the typical Baratheon charisma. He is the kind of boy that people love. I never thought he meant to sacrifice Edric, but Melisandre was eating away at his resolve. He possibly wanted to use Edric's blood as he did with the leaches.

First cousins marry even now it is not illegal. Queen Victoria married her first cousin.

Of course Edric and Shireen are related from both sides of the family though.

As for Gendry, no he is not like Robert at all really. He is more like Stannis and the Targ ancestors than the Baratheon ones. Edric like Mya are more like typical Baratheons.

Gendry and Edric both look virtually identical to Robert, except Edric has the trademark big ears. However, just from reading the books Edric has the trademark Baratheon charisma and easy going personality. People are very quick to love the boy and be prepared to die for him, much like Robert and Renly.

If Edric Storm has any role to play it will be near the end of the series, he will be legitimized as Baratheon, Stannis may name him his heir since he doesn't have any sons, Shireen's marriage will be a problem because of her greyscale, also Val's observation that the grey death sleeps in her might not bode well for the princess.

It works because it would be further legitimizing him as Stannis's heir.
