Jumping in where I probably shouldn't: there could easily have been a reason: make it something like the magic requires the blood of an aroused man, or whatever.

Considering the last time Melisandre produced "a son" for Stannis she had to arouse him too, I think you have a point.

She also made the point her magic couldn't work on Stannis anymore because his fires "burn low".

It doesn't seem to work unless the subject is aroused in one way or another.

I didn't like this scene because it was nonsensical. Melisandre didn't get his sperm from this because I am pretty sure he hadn't finished. (if she fucked him to get shadowbaby it would be perfectly ok). If she didn't want to scare him, then she acted as stupidly as she possibly could. Leeches are normal medicine practice now and especially back then. If she told him that she knows medicine and he needs a little leeching, he'd shrug and let her, as is, she made sure he'd be as terrified as possible after stating that she wants to achieve exact opposite. Maybe she could fuck him before convincing him to try leeches, that would make some sense at least. And by the time they'll presumably consider burning him alive, no amount of boobies will soothe the lamb anyway.

From non-spoiled comments, other people were confused as well. the show is confusing enough, sometimes in all the wrong ways, without this bizarreness.

Gratuitous sex is one thing. Sex by someone with neither desire nor reason to do it is just stupid.

So is letting people get up close to the Mother of Dragons and not guarding her tent.

So is sneaking into her tent at night and threatening her maid when you could just ask to see her.

I could go on. What is wrong with D & D? They've written such good episodes in the past. They should know better!

I actually like that Gendry and Stannis are meeting...I know he has taken up some of the role of Edric Storm...but since D&D have to cut corners in the big picture...I am really paying attention to where Gendry's story line is going on the show.

I think the Mother of Dragons was self explanatory: Daario entered her tent dressed in an Unsullied uniform.

Not only they are eunich, the show established the Unsullied were fiercely loyal to the Khalessi in the scene with Daario's Captains.

As much as I'd want to believe no Unsullied was harmed in the recollection of that uniform, I don't think that was the case.

Yes I am thinking she is going to get a shadow baby from him to take care of Balon. He is young but he may not have finished however. So...I dunno. Anyway, if he is like young men I have known getting him in that situation would have made it pretty easy to tie him up.

Perhaps there was some in the company steel. These arent the only unsullied - in fact there are unsullied everywhere - they just arent all the temper of the ones Dany has. The uniform is included in the price.

It's done as a cliffhanger in the book anyway. Its just a bit more of one.

In the book the wights come with the Other - as expected in the typical Other army. However this Other came alone. Coldhands came to save them from the wights. There are no wights. OK there could have been wights AND Coldhands. Or they might do it completely differently.

That's a good scenario, but....

In the book, she had asked them (as in the show) to come back with a decision.

Daario could have been escorted to her tent as in book , probably by Jorah , Melisande could have been intermediary , Jorah would have objected to seeing Daario alone, but Dany overruled him (she does not mind irritating him), she could have been in her bath. The disguise and threat to Missandei was an awkward dramatic construct.

I have to agree somewhat. There was no need for her to get naked. She could've stayed clothed and still got him aroused and tied up. Now, that said, I REALLY enjoyed her in the scene!!

I think that would have come off as cheesy. It's one thing to look like someone else, but another to actually use the same actor. Viewers would be wondering if he was a twin, or if this was days of our lives.

As for sneaking up on Dany, well that was also done for the viewers' benefit. The last scene we see is the three of them discussing who was going to sneak up on the tent and kill her. Then we see him sneaking up on the tent and what appears to be trying to kill her. The audience gets nervous, but then excited that Dany has a new (and good looking) ally as well as what, 8000 soldiers? Yay! Happy television for all.

I felt Cersei came on a little strong with her threats against Margarey. I liked the story she told about Tywin, but I woulda preferred her threats to be more veiled.
