GoT 3D Board Game

23 posts in this topic

Hi so this is my first major post! idk if this has been done before but after playing many great games of GoT. I thought it would be great to play on a huge 3D board like the Painted Table on Dragonstone. So inspired I set out to build my own "Painted Table". The board measures 44" by 88" and is made from ply wood and foam. Here are a few pictures of the progress I have made so far!

I free handed the whole map and in the end I felt the north was a little to small but it was to late to change it as I had already used a hot needle to melt the coast/border into place.

I heated up a spoon to carve out the sea and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Here is a picture from the coast of Dorne.

After I finished cutting the sea out I gave the whole board a coat of black paint to prep it for dry brushing.

And here I thought FFG's game board was freaking huge... I'm assuming that's the game you're talking about? If so, will you be making room for the influence/supply/score/wildling tracks, other game pieces, etc.? So curious!

This is amazing stuff - keep posting!

Holy hell, this is one of the coolest gaming ideas I've seen in a long while

Do you contract out by any chance, if that's not being too forward lol ;D

Would you be willing to shoot me a PM with the general cost that it took you to build it, if someone wanted to replicate it?

My Diplomacy/Risk/New game entirely would never be the same again O.O

I'm going to stop updating this thread as there is a lack of interest. And it is extra work for only a handful of ppl to enjoy.

Dude what youre doing is unbelievably amazing , keep up the good work. I appriciate your hardwork and determination about doing such thing just for fun.

Seriously talking , this thing can go further , every Hobby Shop needs a 3D boardgame table like that one , if not ASOIAF but LOTR and such.

I hope you ll at least post the picture when its finished

Yeah, I would still be interested in buying a table to play Risk/Diplomacy on :)

It's ironic - I'm too lazy to build one of these myself and not artistic enough to make it look good but I would certainly spend hard earned cash to buy one hehe

This is amazing! How's the project coming along? I'd love to play the board game on something like that!
