A moment of silence to remember that one dead unimportant character that could have been great...

They were little more than a name and a poorly detailed idea. Maybe they only got to say a line or two, or not even that. They could be replaced by any other random people and the plot wouldn't change a bit. Still, they touched our hearts.

Let us meditate a little on the great deeds those unsung heroes could have done if only Martin had chosen them.

My pick is Dacey Mormont.

Loyal warrior and elegant lady, she would rule Bear Island wisely. One more reason to hate the Freys.

I actually got a little teary when Donal Noye carked, going out the best way possible mind you.

RIP Donal Noye - Forger of Kingly Weapons, Slayer of Giants and One-Armed Saviour!

And in hindsight, it would have been very nice to see Stannis interact with Donal Noye. He was a Baratheon man, after all, and Stannis knew him.

ps. he also had a way with words, this quote is great:

Robert was the true steel. Stannis is pure iron, black and hard and strong, yes, but brittle, the way iron gets. He'll break before he bends. And Renly, that one, he's copper, bright and shiny, pretty to look at but not worth all that much at the end of the day.[2]
