Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy

Never read the comics before. Thought this was pretty bad but I'm apparently the only one here that believes that. Then again, trailers don't really mean much and I'll wait for the reviews. After all, Man of Steel's trailer was epic but the movie itself was disappointing

I don't think it looks bad per say. Looks like a pretty decent sci-fi comedy. I just don't think that a sci-fi comedy is the right move when it comes to introducing the Big Bad of the entire cinematic universe.

I had absolutely no interest in seeing this movie until I watched the trailer today. Now, I can't wait to see this movie.

GotG has never really interested me as a concept. This did mildly pique my interest, but overall I'm still iffy about it.

Looking at the close ups of the rap sheets posted earlier. I find myslef wondering what a Microbule is, it's a measurment of length, so one would assume it's height, But Gamora is 224 and Drax is 203, then Groots is 500. Groot is tall but obviously not twice as tall as Bautista, who is taller than Saldana.

Also Rocket Racoon - 'Has a tendency to bite.'

And for the record, I don't think there's anything wrong with Karen Gillians look. It's badass.

Maybe a Microbule is a measurement for reach like in boxing because you proved that it can't be height.

Is Star Lord a human? I'm assuming so, given that he owns a walkman. So how did a human become a famous outlaw when the existence of aliens was only publicly revealed in Avengers? Unless the answer is a spoiler, then don't worry about it.

According to wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guardians_of_the_Galaxy_(film) he was taken as a child from earth in the 80's.

Just coz it wasn't publicly known doesn't mean occasional humans didn't get off-Earth.

Maybe the microbules are the lengths of their sentences? A unit of time rather than distance.

Interesting thought, but Groot only has three counts of GBH, whilst Drax has 25? (I'd have to check murders) and Gamora has 12 murders.Unless the other two murdered less important people than Groot beat up :P

At least half human. But as others said left earth in the eighties, I assume the walkman and music has sentimental value: why he flips out when the guard listens to it.

James Gunn Breaks Down the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Teaser Trailer

INDIANA JONES INFLUENCE?

"There is probably no film that influenced me more as a child – no film that excited me more or that I loved more – than Raiders Of The Lost Ark. It not only influences how I see Guardians, it influences how I live my life."

SILENT ROCKET

"We've recorded most of Bradley’s dialogue already. I suppose you would expect me to tell you he’s fantastic and his characterization of Rocket will blow your mind – so don’t believe me and just wait to see (or hear) it for yourself. In all truth, we hired Bradley because he’s able to do both comedy and drama – it’s the thing I look for most in the actors on all my films – and to truly sell Rocket – for you to believe a Raccoon can talk (and blow up and shoot tons of stuff) we need a well-rounded actor."

ADORABLE GROOT

"I love Groot so much I get teary eyed when I think of him sometimes. Essentially, all the Guardians start out the movie as bastards - except Groot. He’s an innocent. He’s a hundred percent deadly and a hundred percent sweet. He’s caught up in Rocket’s life, really."

INTIMIDATING ZOE GAMORA

"Zoe is about as un-intimidating as you can imagine! She gets in the zone the moment that cameras start filming – but before that she’s basically her loud, brash, completely lovable and goofball self. She got it easy with the makeup – it only took about four hours to put on, whereas it took Dave Bautista and Karen Gillan six hours or more. Zoe and Karen are the two most hardass characters in the movie – they’re our Clint Eastwoods. It should take more than a few people by surprise."

EDGY HUMOR

"The movie has a lot of edgy humour, unusual for a comic book movie. But we were encouraged by Marvel to take risks, so we did. However, we never wanted the humor to get in the way of the fun or the emotional heart of the film – those things came first."

80'S WALKMAN

"'Hooked On A Feeling' is used in the movie. That and a lot of other old songs are on Quill’s mixed tape in his Sony Walkman. It’s one of the few things he has from Earth. I don’t think of it as a joke, because it’s very dear to him. It’s the umbilical cord that connects him to earth and the home and family he lost."

BEHIND THE BARS

"The Guardians are criminals, essentially – a thief, two thugs, a murderer, and a maniac. They end up in prison together. When you have those personalities all in one place at one time, you can imagine a scrap or two starting pretty easily."

STAR LORD THE PILOT

"At that point in the film, Star-Lord and the gang are facing off with a fleet of Ronan’s Necrocraft. Someone’s about to go down."

NEBULA

"I knew I wanted to add some shots of Nebula, as she’s super badass."

THE COLLECTOR

"It’s important to add that we left out some of our coolest characters – Lee Pace’s Ronan the Accuser, Michael Rooker’s Yondu, and Glenn Close’s Nova Prime – because we want to save them for the full trailer in a couple months". (CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER?)

BEST FRIENDS: ROCKET & GROOT

"There is no doubt that the cinematic pinnacle of my career is our cameras circling around a maniacal raccoon shooting a machine gun on the back of a living tree. And I say this with as much modesty as I can muster – because certainly it is not me, but the hand of God guiding us all as we make this film – but it just may be the pinnacle of cinema in general. When we shot it we were twirling around an empty space in a giant set. But I think all of us could see the raccoon and the tree in our minds. They were already starting to form. I can’t wait to share them with everyone in August."

Okay, that made me laugh.

Slightly concerned about "edgy humor", that can be code for all kinds of stupid things, but he also acknowledges the need to not let that (whatever that is) get overboard.

I predict fart jokes, stumbling into nearly naked women, maybe some strong blow job innuendo.

But hopefully I'm wrong and "edgy" is not a euphemism for "pathetically juvenile".

I imagine the dude is actually going to say "assholes" in the theatrical cut, and that they won't blur out Star Lord's middle finger. Probably a bit more sexual innuendo and cussing that a Marvel movie is used to.

Considering you've got a sentient tree, a car-stealing and machine gun-using raccoon, 2 green people and a guy from the 80's, I'd say it's almost essential that they spice up the humor at least a little bit.

James Gunn was the director on Slither and Super. I expect the humor in this to be similar to the humor in those. So I'm onboard.i had very little interest in this till I saw the trailer.

But now I'm ready for a week or so sheet it comes out. Hopefully the next trailer pushes it to a day one viewing.

I thought the 1st trailer was a smart way to go. I assume there are more than a handful of people (myself included) that don't know a damn thing about GotG.

After seeing that trailer I now know 5 of the characters. Which is a pretty good entrance knowledge into a movie.

I got a good feel for their character. I know I will be on the look out for a Groot plushie.... For my kids or nieces and nephews. And I don't think it gave anything away. I don't want to see plot in my trailers. That's what the movie is for.

I've come from knowing nothing and having no interest to wanting to find out more. Maybe even read up on GotG and yeah. I'm interested in seeing the movie. Perhaps 100x more than I am in seeing the next MoS movie.
