Victarion's Destiny: Badassery Beyond Belief

Recommended Posts

Many people believe it’s Victarion’s destiny to die in Essos. I think there’s a compelling case for Victarion to have a brighter destiny.

Fire Eater’s Dance of Dragons 2.0 lays out a convincing case for Dany landing in Dragonstone when she comes to Westeros. Also, ‘A few hours sail from Dragonstone lay Claw Isle.’ Claw Isle is the ancestral home of House Celtigar, and reputedly contains ‘Myrish carpets, Volantene glass, gold and silver plate, jeweled cups, magnificent hawks, an axe of Valyrian steel, a horn that could summon monsters from the deep, chests of rubies, and more wines than a man could drink in a hundred years.’

If Dany does land on Dragonstone, then Claw Isle would logically (lightly held, nearby, sworn to the usurper) be one of the first places her forces conquer. The Ironborn are not into philanthropy and would require looting in payment for transporting Dany west, and would thus acquire the treasures of Claw Isle.

GRRM doesn’t do coincidences, and so far he’s kept to the dramatic principle “If a gun is on the mantle in the first act, it must go off by the third.” As soon as Robb found the direwolf pups, we knew Ned was gonna let the kids have them. As soon as Dany got the dragon eggs, we knew she was gonna hatch some dragons. That being said, there is no way GRRM wrote in a frickin Valyrian steel axe and a giant kraken summoning horn, and doesn’t intend them to fall into the hands of the only mofo badass enough to use them. Even the Victarion-haters have to drool at the thought of Vic slicing Others to pieces with a dragon-steel axe while his giant krakens grab and pull into the deep any ice dragon foolish enough to fly too low.

Crackclaw may not need conquering, IIRC they were pretty much diehard Targ supporters and if Nimble Dick is to be believed some still are. There's an SSM where GRRM says it's possible that we will see krakens. I'll google it and leave the link here.

Here ya go.

There's a story in the books about a horn that can raise krakens from the deep. Will we ever see a kraken?

(Martin looks surprised by the question.) Possibly.

Tho horn is a myth, if not the Celtigars would be famous kraken-riders and create their own coastal empire akin to Valyria. But the axe part is plausible.

I've got a theory about that as well. Victarion will try to blow Dragonbinder, but nothing will happen because that horn only works for those with the blood of the dragon. For Vic it will be useless, so it will be easy for him to gift it to Dany as a way to cement their alliance. Likewise the Celigars are descended from old Valyria and therefore have the blood of the dragon, so they will be unable to use the kraken horn. A son of House Greyjoy though...

Thanks for the link, but keep in mind Crackclaw is a different place from Claw Isle.

That seems like it, he will die in the Dothraki Sea as a result of being killed by Drogon after Dany learns what he did.

What are you referring to by 'what he did?' Do you mean when he sailed halfway around the world to bring Dany a fleet to take her and her army back to Westeros? Do you mean when he captured the ships of her enemies and freed their slaves? Do you mean when he *TWOW spoilers* helped Barristan win the battle of Meereen by smashing the slavers' flank? What exactly has Victarion done that would cause Dany to sentence her to death? Want to marry her? She's had plenty of suitors, but none has she set Drogon on. His plan to kill Hizdar? She doesn't give a sh*t about Hizdar and after she heard him order soldiers to kill Drogon at the arena, she'd reward Vic for killing him.

The foreshadowing of Drogon 'plucking' Victarion from the Dothraki sea doesn't mean killing him. It's just that Victarion isn't that bright, and he plans to kill Dany's husband and marry her without ever considering that Dany might want a say in this. Drogon will pluck Victarion from the sea to put him in his place so that he understands the Mother of Dragons is the one in charge, not him. But Drogon won't kill him. Victarion's arm is proof that the God of Fire is on Victarion's side, and is thus Drogon's kindred spirit.

Victarion will kill Barristan and Hizdahr, something Dany won't like. Dragons are dangerous animals, and if they pluck someone it will be to harm or kill them.

There is no connection between dragons and R'hllor. Moqorro told Victarion of the glory that awaits, which brings to mind Victarion telling the slave girls of the honor that awaited them before he had them burned as a sacrifice.

Suuurrre.... Right after he sails into the Dothraki Sea and picks her up right?

Dont you ever doubt Victarion, he will make thralls of all the Yunkai and have them put wheels on his flagship so he can sail the dothraki sea. And Drogon? well he will have 2 dragons himself, he wont even need the horn to control them he will simply bitchslap them into subservience with his burned hand.

If Vic gets a dragon I will eat my shoe

He may not ride them, but he has the dragon horn.

If Vic gets a dragon I will eat my shoe

He wont ride a Dragon per se, he will hold each remaining Dragon by the throat and use them as flamethrowers, he will then go and defeat the others and kill Danny after she beds Euron.

Then some astrologer will be talking about the constellations in "the sea" and Victarion will say that he will sail and plunder those constellations "You fool the sea is a place in the sky not a water body" and then he will rip the spine of the astrologer sub-zero style.

After being mocked then, he will summon a kraken outfit it with space armor and sail "the sea" like this image shows.
